We had the good fortune of connecting with Cassius King and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cassius, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Starting off, I don’t think I pursued a creative path intentionally. It wasn’t something that I dreamed about growing up. So for me, pursuing this as a career, came after me learning and applying the basic essentials of the craft and growing further as a creative through networking and experiences.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Cinema Junkies being the latest venture, a highly trained and specialized camera team of operators and technicians. The whole team consists of operators who have different backgrounds and specialties, giving us a range of flexibility to work with other Directors, DPs, and creatives, while also providing productions the ability to execute shots in high quality with greater accuracy in a shorter amount of time.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Being that I just moved to LA, I haven’t really been fortunate enough to venture out to many places. There are a few places where we love to decompress after a big production and get food or drinks at. IYKYK we absolutely love these places as some of our favorite places to head to as a group.

Gyu Kaku in Burbank (a place where some of us business owners get to decide who gets to write off the meals for the group) We are almost always talking about future projects at this location.

BlaqHous in North Hollywood (another local place where they have Hookah) and a great food selection with a variety of drinks to cool off on the patio spaces. Here we are almost always decompressing and talking about past projects.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

As far as my career as a creative, there’s definitely a few people out there who have helped shape and who also continue to mold me as a creative. There’s also other creatives that inspire me and motivate me to continue grinding whether they know it or not.

But for all the creatives that I continue to create with. There is a growing bond as we traverse through life. Making those connections and forming stronger bonds is the ultimate goal. Dedicating your life to the craft will remove the cap over anyone’s career, and that’s all a creative could ever ask for.
