We had the good fortune of connecting with Falynn Essix and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Falynn, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?

Honestly, starting my business meant freedom from corporate politics. I wanted to construct a safe space for creatives to come together, who desired the ability to express their skills through style and strategy. It’s always been important to surround myself with hardworking, likeminded people who have a passion for either design/fashion and/or executive level business operations. So initially, I came up with it as a way to spend more time doing the things with people I wanted to be around, all while networking with other elite entrepreneurs along the way.

Over time, I found that no matter the cultural background or demographics, we all can agree that space management and wardrobe are two areas that provide the least joyous experience when decisions need to be made hence, The Essix Experience. We curate a plan to bring beauty, confidence and functionality to daily adulting that is aligned with each individual’s service goals unique to their field of work and lifestyle habits. Wardrobe styling, organizing (residential/commercial), and personal assisting are the core of our offered services. Our members consider The Essix Experience to be both essential and cosmetic, so expense us under self-care!

The Essix Experience isn’t your average style house. We are a collective of melanated creatives, who partner together to bring into existence solutions through wardrobe and our S.P.A.C.E organizing program. S.P.A.C.E means Sort, Purge, Assign a home, Containerize and Experience. We edit, restyle, and modify the plan until we arrive at a look and workflow that will ultimately allow you to maximize your potential for a lifestyle of luxury and ease. Unlike most of our competitors, we’re hands on (with or without your help) as we prioritize implementing systems that will be the most impactful to your daily functions first and leave the stylish looks for last.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being from Detroit, I find myself gravitating to Oceanside and outdoor venues, which is total opposite than the offerings of my hometown. When I chose to relocate, it was important to get a place that was in bike riding distance of the beach. The culture of Long Beach, specifically, is unmatched and won me over, instantly! I actually just celebrated my 10-year LBC anniversary. But to get back on track, a perfect day would include a morning workout at one of the many wellness clubs, a bike ride or walk to the pier for lunch followed by shopping at the marina or the pike, then visiting a nearby museum or the aquarium. Being a lover of seafood, we’d more than likely have dinner at Kings Fish or Big Catch and if we’re lucky catch a show or event at The Hangout of Retro Row.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to all of The Essix Experience supporters and elite members! What started as a way to help others win has helped us do the same in return. I would like to give a special shout-out to My dad, Marv S6 (Essix). He obviously loaned me the name, but he’s been a pillar in instilling the core values in me to give to our companies’purpose. Some high-level attributes being- 1. Show up best dressed or don’t show up 2. Do honest business 100% of the time and 3. Choose Quality over quantity.
