We had the good fortune of connecting with Jane Owen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jane, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always seen PR as a way to help people, companies, projects and more, get the attention they want and deserve. To be heard, and to be seen in the best light.

I was always being pushed to take on clients just because of the money they could pay rather than the quality of their product or the kind of person they were.

I opened my own company with the motivation to be able to (sometimes) do the work because I wanted to not just because I had to.

The best part is the now that I’ve had over 20 years in the business and over 11 with my own firm, I often get the luxury of working with clients I believe in who also value my work. But along the way I’ve also been able to do a few things just because! Its the reason I still love what I do so much.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started Jane Owen Public Relations over 11 years ago, it’s a boutique firm but it has a fully International team. We have teams on both US coasts and in Europe, Middle East and most recently we just hired in South America. I would say that it’s our personal attention and relationships that set us apart from other PR companies.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I highly recommend my friend Eden Alpert’s Vibrato Jazz & Grill, the food is outstanding and the performers are spectacular (and often legendary )

My suggest for visitors would be to definitely stop by The Grove, especially if you have kids. It’s got a great lawn for longing in the sun and several good restaurants and of course excellent shopping. Universal studios is also excellent fun! I would of course recommend a day in Santa Monica by the beach.

I’d like to dedicate this to my Mother, you were the person in my life who I knew was always rooting for my success
