We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor A. Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
In my early life, I showed a talent for the performing arts and went on to win a National beauty competition for The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Cynthia Bailey. Winning the Miss Renaissance pageant made an indelible impression on my interests and aspirations. In my career, I’ve been blessed to work at fortune 500 companies like Calvin Klein in New York City, NY, Sephora Inc, San Francisco, CA, Naturalicious, and more. Currently, I’m working in the mortgage industry, but knew I always had this vibrant entrepreneurial spirit where I desired to get back in the creative space pursuing my passions.

As a way of moving beauty forward, in 2020 during the pandemic and with the goal of supporting women, my business partner and I launched an online boutique called Taylor A. Collections. My inspiration and excitement came from working with other fashionphiles; I gained a greater understanding of different styles and perspectives while representing Black women in the fashion and beauty space, where women of color are often overlooked and not heard. My curated collection encourages women to be empowered, inspired, confident, and to project themselves exquisitely.

Taylor A. Collections encourages all women of different shapes, size, ages, and skin tones to channel the power that lies within and become the sexy and sophisticated person that’s been there all along. My ultimate goal is for the timeless woman to be empowered, inspired, confident, and motivated to be a boss babe, and our job is to help them look the part!

I hope that you can join me on this journey as we help take Taylor A. Collections to bigger and better heights! Check is out at: www.tayloracollections.com

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Since launching T.A.C online boutique at the end of 2020, it has been a wonderful and exciting journey, however it must be noted that it has also been a learning experience. From working with multiple vendors to ensure the shipment of products come in on time, making sure your international clients get their packages in one piece, creating marketing materials for all products and reaching your target audience. Realizing running adds with zero sales and leftover inventory makes once realize not all successes happen overnight. Each challenge we’ve faced we’ve met head on and have faced it courageously and with joy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is a fun one! I’m still learning my way around LA considering I’m from Detroit, MI and my bestfriend actually lives in the area, but let’s just pretend. First, I’d take them to morning yoga because we need to find our woosah, then I’d take them to get protein shakes/acai bowls. From there, we’re going back to relax and debrief. After that, we go grab brunch at Met Her At A Bar, and later we go hang out on the town and grab drinks at E.P L.P and Lock & Key. Some of the most fun, interesting, exciting people, places or things to check out that I’ve found fun so far are the See You Soon parties, Black Market Flea, Black On The Block, The Continental Club, LACMA, etc. Some of the most exiting people I have met have been in creative/ artsy spaces like Downtown LA, The Fashion District, Hollywood, Mid-City and South Central LA. I’m hoping to meet more people and check out more places as I get more acquainted to my area.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shout-out my beautiful and never ending supportive family and friends. They keep me going and encourage me to never give up, stick to the end goal, never stop learning and growing and stay true to myself. Thank you and with love, Taylor A. Williams
