We had the good fortune of connecting with Stacey Fiant Morris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stacey, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I decided to go into business for myself because it is something I enjoy and due to what I have learned in the industry I felt I would be able to offer more customer service that I felt was important. I consider it a privilege to represent one’s love for another through flowers and taking a little extra time to text a photo of the arrangement and delivery confirmation with details is so comforting and appreciated and it only takes me a few minutes to do.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I feel that what sets me apart is my heart is always thinking like a consumer and I try to give my clients the absolute best in quality and customer support. This industry isn’t for the faint of heart and is emotionally and physically taxing but so incredibly worth it. One example of this was 2 years ago right after I started my business I was delivering to a lot of sick and elderly that were not allowed visitors and flowers was the only way some people were able to show love. I received an order on my website from a woman to her mother for her 80th birthday in a convalescent hospital. When I arrived to deliver there was a ‘young’ lady in a wheelchair wearing a ‘birthday girl’ sash and tiara, several of the staff members were surrounding her with a cake and singing happy birthday. When I sent the delivery confirmation to her daughter I explained all that I witnessed. This woman was so incredibly grateful that I took the time to let her know all of this and I explained if it were my mom I would want to know how wonderful the staff was to her and that it just took me all of a couple minutes to do but I now have a customer for life. I named my shop Blooming Ruby’s after my grandmother Ruby who was my best friend and inspiration and by naming it after her I feel her legacy of love is passed on.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Considering I live in one of the most beautiful places in the world and I was born and raised here the list of things to do and places to visit are endless. I am not one for tourist type things rather I would take them to the beach, a walk or hike up Matilija Canyon, breakfast at Bonnie Lu’s and dinner at the Ranch House
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Victoria Sjollema was an amazing influence on me both personally and professionally. She has been in the floral industry her whole life, in every type of aspect.. grocery, factory, growers, freelance design and owned her own shop and increased business 100X during the time she owned it
