Meet Madison Ruff | Visual Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Madison Ruff and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Madison, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I first started my own business because I wanted to work for myself and make a difference. I wanted to beautify the world and make it a more interesting place to live with accessible artwork. I created my own business out of necessity for my independence and continued creative work. I knew the risk and the exciting benefits that come from conquering your fears and working for yourself. You have to take risks to succeed and to weigh the pros and cons of those risks. Having a strong work ethic, a competitive nature and a highly motivated skill set have helped make my dreams come true. My tenacity and drive to succeed allowed me to accomplish things I had only dreamed of. Time, money management, forward thinking and problem-solving have allowed me to grow and become a better artist and business owner.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Currently I am most proud and excited about my larger commissioned art pieces and Mural projects that are in the works I continue to work larger and I am surprised at what I can accomplish after every work. I began painting when I was about eight years old I would paint underwater scenes landscapes wildlife and portraits of influential people. I started selling my work in my late teenage years and I started painting murals for local businesses in Montana after graduating high school. My mural work is physically laboring and allows me to be outside all day where I feel most at home. I have learned my strengths and capabilities as well as expanding my potential as an artist. I work to bring conversation to individuals, communities and neighborhoods in order order to create unity and a sense of belonging in the world. When people can connect to my work, feel comfort and appreciate what it represents, I am happy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The mountains surrounding California and it’s coast line, combined with high deserts and expansive beaches makes it one of the most magical landscapes I have experienced. I love spending the weekends getting lost outside of the city and coming back to the chaos of Venice beach and downtown. My favorite restaurants include Duke’s Malibu, Casablanca in Venice, and Salsa and Beer in North Hollywood. I take any chance I get to take visitors to Universal Studio, the Broad Museum and the Getty’s.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate my shoutout to my family who have always made me believe in myself and challenge what I thought was possible.
