We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Dixon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erin, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor of success for me is consistency. When I started my business, a lot of estheticians told me the best thing for me would be to provide all different kinds of services until I find something that my clients really like. I had already found what I like and I took the risk of providing one service of sugaring and not straying away from that. I can consistently provide the same service and experience to every client because I’ve allowed myself to reach expertice in one thing. I’ve found a niche market in my area and as more and more people find out about the benefits of switching to all natural, more begin to switch over!

Licensed Beauty Professional

I provide sugaring as a service to my clients. Sugaring is hair removal, similar to waxing but it’s all natural and gives better long term results that are similar to laser over time. I do brow shaping with sugar, Brazilians and any other body part you can think of! All of my clients know that when they’re in my room, they’re in a safe space. It can feel uncomfortable to be so vulnerable but that’s why I strive harder to make it the most pleasant experience. Also who doesn’t love an all natural alternative to permanent hair removal?!
I have been in the sugaring business for 3 years now and spend 2 and a half of those years training other beauty professionals to sugar. At first sugaring was very hard for me and typically is for everyone but I’ve gotten to the point that I could do this with my eyes closed. Having the added expertise of teaching this technique to other professionals has helped me learn this trade in and out. It wasn’t easy getting to the position I’m in today but persistence and dedication have gotten me farther than I could’ve imagined!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I spend a lot of my free time at the beach, and out relaxing with friends. I’m also a huge foodie! I love mexican food and one of my absolute favorite restaurants is Sol y Luna in the valley. They have the best table-side guacamole and margaritas! My perfect day would consist of getting dressed up to feel good about myself and heading out to an outdoor winery/bar for drinks with friends.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve been an esthetician for almost 4 years and have always enjoyed hair removal. It’s a funny story to most because everyone wonders what attracts me to it, but there’s nothing better than making women feel more confident and comfortable with such vulnerable areas and hair which is a massive insecurity for most! My whole life I’ve been inspired by books that preach how important living in the “now” is. I believe things work out exactly how they’re supposed to and things fall into place naturally, all we have control over is right here, right now. That’s kind of how things worked out for me with my business. One of my good friends opened her first salon store front and believed so much in me and the service that I provide that she wanted me to have my own space here and start to grow my own business. At that time, starting my own business wasn’t even a thought in my mind but her encouragement and the encouragement of my boyfriend, friends and family pushed me to believe that there was no better time than the present.
