We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Davis-Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jordan, how do you think about risk?
I see risk as a form of opportunity. Every success I’ve experienced came from my understanding that there is possible failure. I try to lean into risk. Learn from it, adapt to it. Take it head on until I overcome it or work with it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In 2020 I traveled to 7 different states to march with protesters due to the mistreatment of black people in America. I wanted to see the “Black Lives Matter” paint seep into the rugged cement as we poured our voices through concrete walls street by street. That year was heavy, for all of us. I then fundraised a second trip to Lake Charles, Louisiana to help with the relief efforts after Hurricane Laura. I share that because those experiences gave me perspective. My work is to imitate life in all aspects. Sometimes the best classroom is outside your front door.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Awe man I love this!

I’m going to run through these:

Pine & Crane in Silver Lake: get some of the best dumplings EVER!

Round 1 in Burbank: karaoke, bowling, arcade, do I need to say more?

Bottega Louie in West Hollywood: Friday nights done right.

Huntington Beach: avoid the crazy of Santa Monica and live in a beach town for the day.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to recognize my family as the strongest reason for what I do. In my doubt and fears they have calmed any worries and centered my focus. I’d also like to recognize the August Wilson Monologue Competition. I can from a high school theater that could fit 150 people. The Seattle Repertory Theatre gave me the opportunity to fill hundreds of seats in New York City. I can truly say I wouldn’t be on this path without the guidance both The Rep. and AWMC taught me.
