We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Hall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
By the end of my career I want to be a mogul. My end goal is to have impacted people around the world through my music, advocacy, and presence in communities. I want my life and story to be an example of how you can use your skills and gifts to create change. My mission is to spread love & light and there’s no quantifiable way to measure that. If I made a difference In just one persons life; that’ll be enough for me.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a singer/songwriter and musician. My dad’s a musician so I’ve been around music my whole life. I think what sets my art apart is my storytelling. I take pride in my songwriting and ability to put my emotions into a piece of art that’s melodically appealing. I’ve been writing since 2013 but didn’t start releasing my music until 2020. The first song I released was during the Black Live’s Matter Movement; I was organizing protests around the midwest and my father wrote a song ( “I Can’t Breathe”) as a message of standing for love not hate. I recorded and released/ performed it through out the summer of 2020. After a lot of positive feedback and traction from my first release; I decided to start releasing more music and considered pursing music full time. Fast forward to today, I’ve relocated to LA and am balancing my love for music and advocacy; pursing my Artistry and Community Organizing full time.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite parts of LA are definitely Silver Lake and the Art’s district. If I had someone visiting for a week I’d start by taking them to Millie’s Cafe off Sunset Blvd then showing them the rest of Silver Lake on Sunset. I’d definitely have to take them to my favorite thrift shop on Sunset (Sunday Vintage) and to one of my favorite coffee shops (Stories). The next place I’d take a visitor would be the Art’s District. I love Little Tokyo and some of my favorite shops there are Space City Vintage and Leola Lace. The Arts District Brewery and Traction Ave is also a go to and perfect to walk down and explore during a weeknight or weekend.
The other must sees and favorites on my list are: Malibu Beach, Hollywood Blvd, and Runyon Canyon.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to my parents. My mother & father both have believed in me and supported my dreams since I was kid. They always allowed me to explore and be curious and ask questions. I wouldn’t have wanted to go against the grain and make my own path if they didn’t encourage me from day one.
