Meet Manda Malina | Pop artist/song writer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Manda Malina and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Manda Malina, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Since I came out, I wanted to share my experience through my music, and make music that queer people can relate to.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a proud queer artist, and it’s been a journey to get to where I am, to be so out and open and honest about it. It wasn’t until recently that I came out- and for me I didn’t have to come out, it just happened naturally. I always felt being out as gay would hinder my career, I would lose fans, the labels wouldn’t want to sign me, etc – so because of that I was closeted for way longer than I should have. Now I realize my music and me as a brand is way more relatable to people and it means so much to see how many relate to my storytelling through my music, and it makes me want to keep going being so vulnerable and honest in everything I create.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My bestie hasn’t been to LA in a long time! So that would be so exciting. I would take her to Lake Shrine in Pasadena, which is a meditation garden. It’s truly magical and doesn’t feel like you’re in California at all. Then we would have lunch at H.O.P.E in Studio City, and they have the best vegan chicken wings ever. I’d probably also take her to the outdoor movie Cinespia at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would say I’d love to give credit to my parents for always being so supportive of me, who I am, my goals and my dreams no matter how big or small they are.
