We had the good fortune of connecting with Deanne Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Deanne, what role has risk played in your life or career?
My lineage is that of risk-takers. My ancestors did what they said could not be done. It’s in my genes and has led me on quite the life journey. When I was a teacher, I left the security of teaching – and a steady paycheck – and purchased a franchise. Most recently, I left education (again) and decided to pursue my passions in real estate finance. As a parent, it is super important to me to lead by example. It is always my goal to show my daughter that it is completely possible to do what you love and earn a decent living.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In life, in business, in love, nothing worth anything is easy and I wouldn’t have it any other way. My journey began with a single step, a movement toward, and then a full jump with two feet. Whatever I set my mind to – I give a 100% to make it happen. I am ever grateful for all of the experiences and people who have contributed to my success. Whether they were challenges or triumphs, they have indubitably made me who I am.
What sets me apart? What sets any of us apart is that we are a limited edition and perfectly imperfect. I spend no time trying to be like anyone else. Each day, I am laser-focused on being the absolute best version of Deanne. That includes living, laughing, working hard, and pushing (lovingly, of course) my clients to think outside of the rental box. Fire your landlord – and I can help!!!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If we had a weeklong city vacation, it would be filled with food, exercise, lots of laughter, and some unforgettable experiences. We would definitely rollerblade from Venice Beach to Santa Monica Pier. We would enjoy some tea at Urth Caffe Melrose and food from Baba’s Vegan Cafe or Simply Wholesome. A visit to L.A. is not complete without a walk around Leimert Park and some deep conversations and reading at Eso Won Books. If time permits, we would definitely cruise Sunset Boulevard and visit the legendary Comedy Store to get in some much-needed laugh therapy!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My very existence and my moxie are all attributed to my first love – my mother. She was forever sacrificing so I could have, could be, and could be better. Though she is no longer among the living, her presence accompanies me at every turn and every step I take. Mildred showed me what it was to take risks, show up authentically in every space, and stand tall in the face of adversity. Yesterday, today, and definitely tomorrow, I owe it all to my mama – the incomparable Mildred, also known as Slim.
