We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Paige and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Courtney, what principle do you value most?
Loyalty. It’s everything in this business.
Alright, so let’s move on to why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I was taking my BA, studying to become a teacher. Kindergarteners of course, so the kids wouldn’t be taller than me. I felt there was something missing. I wanted to explore. Travel. I always had a deep passion for theatre. I dabbled in drama, cheerleading and my family says I was always putting on skits as a kid. I started writing scripts at the age of nine. When I found out there was this whole Hollywood North based out of Vancouver, BC… my heart said go. A decade later, I’m glad I took the leap of faith. Acting was never easy. There is zero stability and it’s a brutal industry, but so rewarding when you get to sink your teeth into meaningful characters and stories. I dabbled in theatre and writing. Loved it. Shortly after I moved to Los Angeles, I developed a deeper sense of the business side of the industry and since, haven’t looked back. I love creating meaningful stories and directing, but the primary foundation of our business at Yeehaw Films is raising film finance. One day I would love to be able to just create cinematic magic and not need to wear multiple hats or think twice about raising funds.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I looooove jazz nights at Delilah – anything with old iconic Great Gatsby vibes. Vintage stores. Markets. Catching classics that screen at the Quentin Tarantino theatre. Hikes at Zuma above the cliff in Malibu, Big Bear getaways and shooting on film in Joshua Tree. My favorite of all is probably riding my horse to the Hollywood sign.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate my shout out to my amazing business partners at Yeehaw Films Madison & Kyler Fisher. As well, one of my biggest mentors Rick Licht at Hero Ventures. My favorite book is called “The Intent to Live” by Larry Moss.
