We had the good fortune of connecting with River Liu and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi River, what do you attribute your success to?
As a graphic designer, I get this question a lot. I have various clear objectives for my achievement. Let’s start by asking why we need design. I believe that design goes beyond aesthetics to increase user desire, economic value, and even social value. My profession has been made easier by the good taste I’ve developed since I was a child, but designers must offer more than just aesthetic services. The capacity to communicate is crucial for graphic designers. I’ve had a lot of experience working with clients in various fields, which has allowed me to examine and assess situations from all perspectives. In addition, being able to summarize, organize, and highlight crucial points is a skill of an experienced designer. Another crucial idea is to never forget to go through the project’s essential material more than once. We can only produce a design that satisfies market value by comprehending both the needs of the customer and the concept of the product. Designers should have a wide range of interests since they can only give good design direction by continuously broadening their horizons and learning. Last but not least, I’d want to emphasize that my enthusiasm for design is what keeps me going forward. Fortunately, I have a job that I’ve loved my entire life and am ready to fight for.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I was raised in a household that values the arts, and I have always shown original insights into art and a wealth of imagination. My capacity for empathy is also really great. I am able to think from the viewpoint of others, comprehend the motivations behind other people’s thoughts and emotions, and emotionally sympathize with other individuals. This skill gives my work an emotional quality that connects with the audience and makes it stand out. Of course, getting to where I am now have not been particularly simple for me. There are many obstacles on the path to success. It can be difficult to maintain effective communication with clients in various industries, and it can be difficult for products to get market traction. Gaining a solid footing in the increasingly ferocious professional competition is difficult. Being unable to manage your life and profession while frequently staying up late is difficult for designers. No matter how challenging it is, I am not afraid to fail because I am still passionate about what I love. I’m hoping that my design will have both commercial and social significance.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to the Downtown area of Los Angeles, home to the art district, where they can enjoy delectable cuisine from around the world, taste the greatest coffee and bars, and, of course, view the most fascinating art exhibitions, street art, and fashionable boutiques tucked away in old warehouses. I’ll track down a local traveler. People can easily adjust to a new atmosphere in a backpacker, where they can meet new people and exchange travel stories. Visit Verve coffee in the morning to enjoy a California breakfast and a cup of robust coffee before setting off on their adventure for the day. After that, we walked inside the building’s hidden exhibition to take images of some interesting graffiti. We returned for a very renowned Japanese ramen around lunchtime. After downtime, we went shopping. There are numerous tiny specialty shops and design companies that are only visible to customers. If we’re lucky, we might even run across The Star, who runs the store. Let’s go to Girl & the Goat when night falls so we may celebrate the completion of our voyage with food, drink, and fun.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to introduce the director of a movie I really appreciate, Van Ditthavong, whose production firm I worked for two years ago. Van is a superb director whose film All Roads to Pearla was a massive success. It was a privilege to work with such a talented director. What I learnt from him has also helped me a lot through my career journey.
