Meet David Di L.Ac, Dipl. OM | Acupuncturist & Herbalist

We had the good fortune of connecting with David Di L.Ac, Dipl. OM and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi David, what matters most to you?
My primary principle is to approach each patient with compassion and empathy, taking into account their individual needs and preferences. I also strive to empower my patients through education, so they can make informed decisions about their own health and well-being. My goal is always to provide safe, effective treatments that can help restore balance and harmony within the body, allowing my patients to get back to their normal routines as soon as possible.
Because I received my Chinese medicine education from different regions—including mainland China, Hong Kong, and Los Angeles—I’m able to integrate different cultures into my methodologies, and I continuously seek to refine my systematic treatments. In my practice, I use a combination of techniques such as acupuncture, manual therapy, traditional Chinese medicine, cupping, Gua Sha, and more, to solve problems and achieve the most effective, rapid results. I take great efforts to offer a variety of solutions for everything from pain management, sports injuries, insomnia, and anxiety, to functional recovery after a stroke, cancer symptom relief, and support with gynecological or fertility problems. Helping people to reclaim their lives and health has brought me the greatest satisfaction in my professional life.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed acupuncturist in California and an NCCAOM Oriental Medicine practitioner in the United States. I have more than 14 years of experience in Chinese medicine practice in Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Los Angeles, during which I have had the experience of treating thousands of patients from many different backgrounds. The fact that I am able to bring Traditional Chinese Medicine with my own twist here to Los Angeles has been incredibly fulfilling.
I would have to say that my success as a business owner is largely due to my determination and organized approach to my treatment. I have the confidence to handle any situation that comes my way and the patience to listen carefully to the needs of each individual patient. My methods are tailored specifically for them, so they can be sure that their personal health concerns are being addressed with care and respect. I strive to give my patients the best possible outcome and am proud of the five-star rating that I have earned as an acupuncturist in California. For the past 6 years, I have worked towards fine-tuning my skillset in order to set my business up for success. So to have my patients express that their health is back on the right track is incredibly fulfilling and rewarding.
As for the obstacles that come my way as a business owner, I would say that the beginning stage of opening up my own practice was definitely challenging. I had to start completely from scratch. I had to learn how to balance the different aspects of entrepreneurship whether it be marketing, being a receptionist, billing medical insurance, restocking suppliers, and cleaning the office myself besides treating patients. Of course, I have my wife to thank for helping my practice stay afloat. Doing this completely alone would have been impossible. However, as time went by, I gradually made a reputation for myself in Los Angeles and it has been incredibly rewarding seeing my practice grow. Patients have come to love my treatment philosophy and the results it has helped them achieve. This journey of entrepreneurship has been challenging but rewarding, and I am grateful for all the support I have received throughout my first year of opening my business.
It’s my hope that by sharing this journey, other budding business owners can find inspiration to create what they are passionate about and see their hard work pay off in the end. It takes a lot of time and energy, but it is definitely worth it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As someone who moved here six years ago, I have really enjoyed exploring Los Angeles and discovering the many attractions it has to offer. Activities like taking trips to one of the many museums or simply enjoying quality time together over a delicious meal at one of the fantastic Chinese restaurants in San Gabriel Valley are among some of our favorite ways to relax and spend time together. I highly recommend Sichuan Impression if you prefer spicy foods. There are also just so many beaches, trails, and other outdoor activities that make it easy to get out and explore the city with your loved ones. My personal favorite is Huntington Beach!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shoutout to my wife for her unwavering support and love. Because of her, I am able to pursue my goals without fear of failure. She has always been there for me whenever I needed help or encouragement, cheering me on no matter what I do. Her guidance and support have been invaluable in helping me grow my business. She is the quite literally backbone of our family and she continues to support me and stays present. Her love and dedication are unparalleled.
I also have to thank my mom, a renowned acupuncturist in China, for inspiring me to pursue my passion for Traditional Chinese Medicine. From witnessing her interaction with her patients to seeing how she constantly evolved and learned new skills, I realized the true power of this healing modality. Her never-ending patience, resilience, and compassion are what I strive to integrate into my practice.
Shoutout to my colleagues and friends as well, who have been so generous with their time and resources. My patients deserve special acknowledgment, for their openmindedness and trust in me and my treatment plans. I wouldn’t be here without all of them!
