Meet Nina Shokrian | Senior Marketing Manager

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nina Shokrian and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nina, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
I think the most important thing I’ve done as a parent that has impacted my children is to always treat them with respect. I feel respect is earned and not something anyone can demand – even with your own children. I’ve always made it a priority to interact and communicate with my children in a respectful manner. And because this is a big priority for us, it’s never been an issue for us. Condescending communication is not an option for us. We make it a point to be kind and respectful to everyone we encounter.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My 20+ career in marketing has given me the opportunity to be part of so many amazing experiences. My passion for communicating and networking with others combined with my creative soul has truly helped me succeed and flourish in a career that continues to grow and change. I’m currently working in hospitality in my favorite role yet and I feel incredibly lucky to have stuck with marketing this long to have found the opportunity I’m in today. I believe tenacity, dedication, and the constant search for what fills your soul will lead you to the place you’re meant to be. Pay attention to the details, to your intuition and never burn bridges. Incredible opportunities are out there for everyone.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As I’m the Senior Marketing Manager at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort and Spa, it should be no surprise that I’m going to tell you to stop by our resort first! We have amazing restaurants, an award-winning spa, golf and a nine-acre waterpark. There’s truly something for everyone here.

The history and culture of San Antonio is just incredible. I would definitely encourage anyone new in town to visit The Alamo, the Pearl District, the River Walk, and definitely don’t miss the many wineries that have popped up in the Texas Hill Country. Bring your appetite because there’s so many great restaurant spots to choose from!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my amazing kids, Sophia & Owen. They’re turning into amazing young adults and it’s an honor to be on this journey of life with them. They make life interesting, give me new perspectives and make me proud every day.
