Meet Emore’J Couture | Event Producer & Fashion Entertainment

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emore’J Couture and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emore’J, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I choose an artistic career because it’s all I know! I am a walking, breathing example of human art. Turning this Into a career was the most natural decision for me.
I can remember when I produced my 1st show in high school, I knew that day that this is what i wanted to do with the rest of my life.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I began my creative journey in Washington DC, producing fashion shows while in high school, which led me to designing clothing for various fashion events in dc. With progression also came challenges I felt and knew that I had outgrown my peers in my community and wanted to elevate my career, clientele and my pockets 😉 .
I decided to transition from Washington DC to Los Angeles in 2012 and from their my career was taken to the next level with opportunities in production, fashion design, creating my own fashion design program geared towards youth in shelters, orphanages and boarding homes.
I’ve learned a lot of patience along the way especially with starting over and introducing myself to a new market of people. It was rather humbling having to reset and building from the ground up all over again.
My career has grown immensely over the past 10 yrs, I’ve been featured in various magazines such as Variety Magazine for styling and providing garments for Ruth Carter as well as working with LAFW And NYFW.
I’ve been able to open my own Showroom in DTLA at ART House showcasing various designers from dc, nyc, fl, bali and tibet.
I’m proud to be someone that can say they truly built a thriving fashion brand from the ground up while being able to still set new goals for myself and my business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was to visit L.A the 1st place I’m taking them in the beginning of the week is to see the various murals and hiking spots in l.a. while then checking out a few of my favorite exclusive showrooms in DTLA that feature new and upcoming designers while leading into the weekend it will be a must to check out some of the hottest underground parties such as The Basement, Mixx Nuttz and IYKYK (If You Know You Know).

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to credit EDT (Education Through Design) & Create Now for giving me the tools and platform to create and build within my community fashion events and design classes to educate the youth within my community. Thank You
