We had the good fortune of connecting with Marcus Bradley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marcus, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My business helps the community and the world by first helping the individual. It’s been amazing to see a ripple effect happen by one person taking the time for themselves to do the breathwork and then surrender to the stress of the cold. As a result they become a happier, stronger, and healthier version of themselves. They see it, their family sees it, their employers and coworkers. It creates this little change to where people ask “Whats different about you?” And when they tell them breathwork and ice water is the difference they either get one of two responses. 1. Curiosity builds and they now want to join them on during the next workshop. 2. They get called crazy and then are told “I could never do cold water!” It’s awesome to see and be apart of. To have people just talk about it in the community and with the growth of breathwork and cold plunges globally, its a very humbling journey to be apart of.

With also having the option to do personal training with people I get to meet people where they at and help them accomplish their fitness goals, which can bring the same results and feelings as the Wim Hof Method. With technology being the way it is and being able to reach out to people I am able to train and work with people all over the world with my fitness app. Promoting a healthy lifestyle is incredibly rewarding for the individual and also for myself, I get to practice what I preach and be held accountable, while also feeling like I am living my purpose.

Ram Dass has a saying, “We are all walking each other home” and I try to live that everyday by helping people overcome obstacles, help them connect deeper within themselves, feel better, get healthier, and then take that out into their communities. It’s the small ripple effects that cause bigger waves.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am 100% in the people business. My business is for the people, by the people. Which is fitting because I feel like I am for the people, and by the people. I can summarize it and say its personal training/Wim Hof Method, but its so much deeper than that for me and the community that is being built. I am able to help people train the physical and the mental. What sets me aside with personal training is that although we might have goals something that we are working towards, I put a heavy emphasis on the fact that the obstacle is the path. Each rep, each set, each moment spent in the gym is focused on rather than the end goal. I really help my clients in person or in the app by appreciating all the steps of the journey, each pound loss, each pound of muscle gained, its all something that is helping the client be a happier, healthier, and stronger them. I also am a massive believer in practicing what I preach. With my clients I am extremely honest with them from the beginning. If I truly feel that I am not the best trainer for them, I point them in the direction with another trainer. I am not motivated off making a quick buck, or not maximizing someones dollar. The gym for most can be a daunting and overwhelming place, there’s so much information on what to do on social media, and everyone today is a fitness expert. I really do my best to quiet the outside noise and give my client a tailored program built for them that will help them achieve the best results they can.

With the Wim Hof Method and being a breathwork instructor I get to help people by surrendering and really connecting deeper into their bodies and who they really are. Helping people manage their stress, uncover deep traumas, and release things they weren’t even aware of has been humbling to be apart of. A lot of people are stuck and don’t even realize it, by overcoming the stress of a cold plunge through breathing they are able to see that they are capable of so much more than they thought they were. I have clients always come back to me and tell me they finally asked for that raise, finally took that vacation, even divorced that spouse! Divorce isn’t what I am going for by any means, but I am all about helping people connect with who they really are and live life as happy, healthy, and strong as can be. The cold is a mirror into the soul, it shows you who you really are, and what you really are. People really fall in love with what they see and who they see when they overcome something they thought they could never do. 37 degrees for a few mins is a challenge that a lot of people would never attempt, and for those that do, their lives are changed. I love being able to provide and hold that space for people. Nothing makes me more proud than seeing the light come on in someone’s eyes.

The lessons I’ve learned is that everyone has a story, you never know what people are going through, treat everyone with kindness, and don’t chase the money. The more I give the more I get, and that remains to stay true. I hope I always can trust that.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We are starting the morning with an ice bath to really set the mood. Letting that spike of dopamine get us feeling really happy. Then spending a lot of time up and down the coast. I always need to be near water. We’d forsure catch my brothers basketball game down at San Diego State, eat at Trilogy Sanctuary before the game, and have a great time in La Jolla beforehand. Back home in Newport we’d spend time hanging out at the farm that I currently live at and do workshops at, play with the animals, stay afraid of the geese, and relax on the land. Get some workouts in over at the gym I work at TURF, and connect with the amazing community there. All the meals for the week would be vegan, Au Lac in Fountain Valley, Native Foods in Costa Mesa, Vibe in Newport, the name a few. Hangouts at the beach and Crystal Cove. It would be a week filled with good music, good food, good vibes, and a lot of sun outdoors. We would cap it off at my farm in Newport, where I host wellness events, for a wim hof method session to really tie the whole week together.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have three mentors and amazing examples of human beings that have really taught me how to conduct business and how to try and be the best human being I can be. Jill Apperson, Mase Aslanpour, and Paul Redman. Jill has taught me how to connect deeper with myself, keep my heart open, and make sure that I am taking the time to provide the self care I need for myself before I try taking care of others. Mase has taught me how to really grind and the power of networking, he has showed me that no matter where you go, stay humble, put God first, and everything will fall into place. Paul has taught me to look everyone in the eye and meet them with a smile, he also has showed me that no matter what field you go into or whatever your business is, you are selling yourself. Be authentically who you are, have passion in your craft, and you will attract the right people and community. I wouldn’t be me or “successful” without these amazing people who I love so dearly. They have forever changed my life.
