We had the good fortune of connecting with Emmerson Bockarie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emmerson, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from Sierra Leone, Born and raised in the Capital city of Freetown. My inspiration into music was drawn from attending schools that has curriculums in creative art, music, dance and drama. now I’m using my songs to showcase the rich cultural heritage of my country.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In the earlire stage of my career, the style of my music was a fusion of highlife, reggae, afro Calypso and soukous. now all these sounds from around the world has been merged into what we now call Afrobeats. I’m mostly known for my melodies and lyrics, centered on relationships, social commentries, party and feel good vibes. discovering a passion in the absence of opportunities wasn’t easy at all. I have had challenging experiences and traumas that have shaped me to whom I’ve become today. some experiences in life are better left unsaid but I appreciate every single one of them, because they’re all the ingredients that brought me here.
