We had the good fortune of connecting with Gregory Prescott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gregory, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My personal favorite affirmation is “Make it happen”. When I was working at a 9 to5, my manager always said this to me and it always stuck with me whenever I’m working my own personal projects. It has been over 12 years since I worked with this particular manager but I still hear her voice saying, “Make it happen”. That was probably the only positive I was able to take from her but it has helped me over the years. To this day when I’m facing challenges, I think in my head, “Make it happen”. We all need from time to time, that little voice in our head and we need to be pushed and know we can conquer many obstacles that we may face and we can achieve goals we have set for ourselves.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a fine art photographer and I shoot mostly body form or art nude work and I love working with models of diversity. I like to showcase to the art world, people of color or different body types, hair and skin, sexuality, cultural and lifestyle types. My work is to show beauty in all people. Diversity matters and particularly letting different people feel comfortable and appreciating their own skin. I think the viewers can connect to my work because they can see themselves in my work. I self published 2 coffee table books and I get a lot of positive feedback about my models. While creating my work, I have learned to follow my gut, take chances and don’t be discouraged when I’m told I should not focus on photographing a particular type of model.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite places to go in LA are out in nature spots, like Malibu, Joshua Tree or places like that. I think southern California is just beautiful in general, more than any other main land state in the U.S. but that’s my opinion. I like to go to Venice Beach, mainly to people watch. I think they have the most interesting people in Venice to people watch and also West Hollywood to people watch. I live in West Hollywood so. I normally go out to eat or a bar in my own neighborhood.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Giving a shoutout would be to whom and what inspired me to do what I do. My inspiration has always been old school photography from the 80’s and 90’s, such as Herb Ritts, Bruce Weber or Andreas Bitesnich. Many more but they are who I looked up to and studied when I first picked up the camera. I love the classic style of that era. I have a huge collection of coffee table books that I have collected over the years. Today, everything is so saturated, in all categories of art. I see a lot of great talent but it’s harder for me to find particular artist that stand out enough to shoutout. I follow many artist but social media has become such a huge world, I feel like some great talents get lost. It’s so much more to take in these days.
