We had the good fortune of connecting with Suzie Sandoval and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Suzie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Being an exceptionally organized person I realized my dynamic life skills contributed significantly to my personal and professional success in life.
When I worked in the corporate world for 10+ years, it became apparent to me how clutter and disorganization was affecting organizations, individuals, and the people I cared about. These chaotic, disorganized, and dysfunctional environments existed at home and in professional work cultures.
One of my unique gifts is being able to step into chaos, assess the dysfunction and sabotaging patterns, to instead replace with new mindsets, systems, intentional, goals, and practices for radical productivity and sustainable work-life harmony.
In my early 30’s I went back to college to obtain my bachelor’s degree in business management. Six months into my college experience I created my business plan for OrganiZEN, which integrated professional organization with life coaching. This set the foundation for working with entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, influencers, mothers, couples, and people who valued how much their home and office environments supported their well being and successes in life.
My mission was not to simply make a space look good on the outside but instead focus on creating sustainable spaces my clients thrive in and love to support a holistic lifestyle from the inside out.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I used to work in the corporate environment and as a highly ambitious and passionate person, I found that I wasn’t able to sustain the level of productivity and work-life balance without organizational skills, prioritizing what really matters, and minimizing clutter and distractions.
Through seeing my clients’ struggle with work-life balance, the pressures to keep up with highly demanding careers, and levels of personal and professional responsibility in life, oftentimes they felt depleted, depressed, and their personal relationships and self-care had been sacrificed.
I found that conventional organizing strategies worked to a certain extent but were often too overwhelming in addition to what they had going on in their lives. Quick fixes didn’t always meet my clients’ personal needs of enjoying the process, getting to the heart of the matter, and being able to let go of what no longer served them for good.
As my commitment to creating teachings and practices to support my client’s long-term sustainable success while developing lifelong organizational skills, I created a focus group and began interviewing clients and successful women by asking them five questions which included,
- What clutter means to you?
- How is disorganization impacting your life?
After researching and analyzing the data, I discovered:
1. Clutter is anything that blocks your flow in life and the joy in you.
2. There are 7 types of clutter to free yourself from which include mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of these blocks in life.
3. There are 7 Energies of ZEN to integrate into your life to create a sustainable, harmonious lifestyle.
The heart of my mission is a belief that organization does not have to be hard but instead can be an inspiring, empowering, and a creative expression of who you truly are.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?Driving along the beautiful Pacific Coast Highway towards Malibu is gorgeous and relaxing. I’d recommend stopping at Sunlife Organics and enjoying organic superfood smoothies unlike any other. Search youtube for the owner’s inspiring transformational story and it will add to your appreciation and experience! While in the vicinity, visit the Lake Shrine in the Pacific Palisades to get your ZEN on. Take a beautiful walk around the lake surrounded by opportunities to meditate, smell the array of colorful flowers, and moments to be present with each other.
Spend the day in West Hollywood and walk around all the art and interior design stores. Visit the Pacific Design Center for oodles of inspiration for creating ZEN spaces you love.
Drive through the Hollywood hills and be amazed by the beautiful homes and Epic mansions.
There are a plethora of local hikes throughout the area, Griffith Park is one of my favorite hiking starting points as it’s one of the few places in LA that is shaded and surrounded by greenery. There is a sweet pond with koi fish that is quite relaxing to pause and breathe next to.
Visiting Zuma beach during the early spring is magical. The dolphins and whales swim up close to the shore it is phenomenal to watch. I have yet to witness the bioluminescence phenomenon which happens in the spring. Beach pit bonfires are always a blast and any restaurant with a rooftop terrace to watch the sunset during happy hour is ZENtastic!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a huge shout out to Unplug Meditation for being a space to ZEN out and expand my meditation abilities and practices. I’d also like to give a shout out to the Agape International Spiritual Center for creating an inspiring community and sacred space for enlightenment.
