Meet Stephanee Beggs | Registered Nurse & CEO of RNExplained

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanee Beggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanee, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My business began unintentionally as I was studying for my boards exam (NCLEX). Covid had caused a shut-down and I had nobody to study with, so I began to create videos and study sheets to teach myself the best way I knew how. From there, the basis of my business began to form, although I had no idea it was forming at the time! Unlike many companies, there was no plan, goal or “thought” behind it. What started out as a way to help myself study for the boards ended up turning into a business to help millions pass the boards as well.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In addition to running RNExplained, I began working as a registered nurse in the Emergency Department after passing the NCLEX. Not only am I extremely proud to be an emergency nurse and work on the frontlines, but it also allows me to show my followers that what you learn in nursing school WILL come full-circle in real life. That is what sets me apart from similar companies. I am able to tailor my teaching and study sheets to help you far beyond an exam. I provide real-life examples and tips/tricks that make learning way more enjoyable and engaging. It was not easy becoming an ER nurse, but it was extremely worthwhile. In most hospitals, starting in the emergency department is rare, as this is a difficult department to jump into right away. I learned a vast amount of knowledge, how to critical think quickly, how to. deal with trauma or death, etc. It was very tough, but I learned to trust the process and to give myself grace and patience to learn.
I want the world to know that what I do and the business I have created takes an immense amount of time and effort. It is not as simple as posting my study sheets from nursing school and profiting. There is far more than what anybody will see or understand that goes into running a business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a huge foodie! I would take them to some of my favorite restaurants around Los Angeles and probably go to the beach too! You can’t go to California without going to the beach, so I would take them to Malibu, Laguna, or Huntington…one of those! There are a ton of rooftop cinemas, fun workout classes, pop-up bars, or beach town bars that are so fun so I would take him/her to some of those too.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The people who inspire me the most would be my family and big nursing figures in the healthcare field. I come from a family of entrepreneurs – my mother and father started their own software company in our garage, my brother is a film editor and sister a graphic designer. I was raised around extremely talented and successful people, which exposed me to entrepreneurship at a very young age. For that, I am extremely grateful. My siblings and aunt have also been extremely supportive of my company and help out in any way they can. Because none of my family is in the healthcare field, I also look up to nursing figures like Nurse Blake who are tailored to my niche. Blake and I have a lot in common and he has provided a ton of insight, mentorship and guidance to running a business in this niche.
