We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Dawn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Our “work” is a significant part of our life. Not just the hours it consumes on a weekly basis – which can be significant – but as who we are as human beings. How we grow and make an impact on the world. The way in which we express ourselves and the daily choice to make a positive (or negative) difference in the life of another.

I do believe having a balance between our professional work and personal life is important. How that happens can and should be be individual and unique. I don’t believe in a one size fits all approach to work life balance.

For one person taking a full week completely away from work may be the only way to rest and relax. While for another getting up early (while the house is asleep) and cranking out a few hours of work may help them to stress less and relax the rest of the day and fully soak up family time.

Take the time to get clear on what your version of work life balance looks like and embrace it fully – and worry less about trying to mimic what works for another.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am the founder of Jennifer Dawn Coaching, the creator of Best Planner Ever, the author of The Joy Guide: Finding Your Joy in a World of Crap, host of the Happy Productive Podcast and I also have a digital marketing agency because why have one business when you can have three : )

I fell in love with the idea of entrepreneurship at the age of 8 when I started my first Apple Stand because I thought a lemonade stand was so “yesterday”.

I started my first grown up software company at 23 and grew it from nothing to seven figures. I then went on to purchase a log home business that failed miserably and closed my doors within a year. I became disillusioned with being an entrepreneur and went into corporate. I was successful on paper but the toxic environment was not for me.

I went back out on my own again and after being asked to lead a national network of women entrepreneurs I found my love for coaching. I eventually started my own practice and have been going strong for over a decade now.

What sets us apart is we actually care about the results of our clients. We treat them as partners and friends, not a paycheck. We are constantly adding products to support business owners at every stage of business. Myself and my team of coaches offer support in growing the business but also on a personal level. We support our clients in reclaiming their fitness, healing their trauma, moving through relationship challenges, and anything else in life that presents.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For me it would be about being in nature. Hitting the beach, checking out the hiking trails, being outside and soaking up as much sunshine as possible.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
To my grandparents who showed me what love, family, money, and work life balance can and should look like.
