We had the good fortune of connecting with Ethan Brealey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ethan, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think in life you have to take risks no matter what when it comes to doing something special. I see risk as being a test to see if you have the will to take a chance on yourself. Taking a chance on myself when I was in my teens was risky at the beginning and at times scary but I kept pushing. I’m proud of my younger self for going out of my comfort zone and putting myself out there in a creative way when I felt at times it wasn’t going to get anywhere. It was a risk I took on myself and I’m glad I did because it has introduced me to so many great people
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I work in the acting and modeling industry. It has been a great experience and I never would have seen myself doing something creative as a career. But hey, that’s life for you. It was tough to break into the industry especially being from San Diego. I had a friend of mine refer me to a modeling agency down here in San Diego. I worked there for a little under a year and then made the move up to Los Angeles. Shortly after arriving, I signed with both a modeling and acting agency. I have been working in Los Angeles now for around four years. I have learned that it is a tough industry to make it and you can’t always beat yourself up for not being the guy who is doing something greater than you.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of my favorite places to eat at or go for drinks can include The Bungalow, 1212, Elephante, Ospi, and Jon & Vinny’s
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shoutout first to my grandma. She always believed in me and my creative abilities. Even when I first started out acting and modeling. She always told me to keep going and to chase my dreams. I would not have been able to do any of this without her and I am very thankful for her. Next, I would like to thank my brother Phoenix and my close friends Jeremy and Tyler. They always had my back and cheered me on no matter what even when things felt tough in my career. I would also like to thank my girlfriend Jackie for being so supportive of me. She has done nothing but great things for me.
