We had the good fortune of connecting with Adriena )Z( Dame and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adriena )Z(, how does your business help the community?
The HighVibe empire is on a three-fold mission to elevate humanity. HighVibe Living is a wellness clinic centered on providing top-notch alternative care that facilitates healing and relieves physical and mental stress, strain and pain. From touch therapies of diverse origins, energy healing, and intuitive insight, we meet people where they are on their wellness journey with an aim to serve their highest good with highly customized care.
HighVibe Healing Arts Academy offers pre-licensure massage training for those seeking to build a sustainable massage and bodywork career. The training explores western and eastern modalities and is anchored in preparing students to offer trauma-informed care. We also offer learning opportunities for those who simply seek to elevate themselves and their families.
The HiGHV, a 501c3 nonprofit organization committed to providing access to holistic care, healing arts training and credentialing, and career development for economically distressed women, families and historically marginalized humans.
All branches of the HighVibe empire operate from an energy field of loving kindness.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Starting my business was the easy part. I enjoy what I do as a manual therapist, energyst, and intuitive, and working one-on-one in a gentle environment, holding sacred space for people’s physical pain and emotional dis-ease comes naturally for me. In the beginning, I was also a sole practitioner. The challenges did not arise until I started leaning into expansion and bringing other practitioners on board. The hard lessons along the way involved coming to the conclusion that the people I hired who were a good fit on paper and checked out in the interviews proved not to be in alignment with my vision for HighVibe. While it was disappointing to discover that some of the people that I had taken under my wing ultimately proved to be lacking honesty, integrity, and emotional intelligence, I learned not to be swayed by people’s words but to keep a keen eye on their actions and reactions. I also discovered how to utilize a more effective screening process.
No matter what challenges I face along the way of this dynamic journey as a small business owner and entrepreneur, I seek to grow through them—to constantly discover what I can do better to elevate the experiences of our clients, students, practitioners, faculty members, managers and volunteers.
I recognize myself as a visionary, which comes with myriad limitations, as I cannot on my own do and be everything that is needed to realize the vision. What I can do, what I am honored to do, is navigate my role with unwavering humility. It really does take a village to build a thriving, sustainable business. And I make sure to frequently express my appreciation to members of the tribe in as many different love languages as I can.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
