We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Catarzi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was raised in a conservative, blue collar family. When I was 20 I moved to CA to make my own way. Unfortunately, I got involved with some malicious people and ended up be sex and labor trafficked for 6 months. After escaping my trafficker, I dedicated the next 8 years of my life to fighting trafficking. During that time, I wrote and passed federal legislation, created curriculums for safe houses, and took the NGO international single handedly.

The writing, note taking, and fundraising skills I learned from being a social worker turned me into a half decent writer.
The sales and marketing I learned on the streets with victims – having to earn their trust and convince them to go into rehab/safe housing and completely reinvent themselves.

All of my experiences, both negative and positive have shaped me into the woman and business owner I am today. I am grateful for all of it as I have a pretty badass life and it’s only getting better!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Inkery Co. is a content and copy agency. We create content, copy, and aggressive marketing strategies for badass brands or brands that want to be badass. One of our most sought after services is social media content and strategy. Social media is an ever changing sea of opportunity so make sure you have an excellent captain (marketing expert – Inkery Co.) that can help you navigate those waters safely.

Like any business, that initial climb to your first $100k is a real b*tch. But it teaches you the tools you’ll need to make it to $500k, and so on and so forth. So don’t give up! It’s important to recognize that everything comes in cycles and to be aware of where you’re at in that flow. This will help you adjust your mindset and focus your energy where it’s needed most.

Building a powerful network has been massively important to our early and rapid success. As you build your network, make sure to audit your circles on a regular basis and only surround yourself with people smarter than yourself.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would not do this – Mostly because I’m an extreme introvert. A perfect day to me is by myself. I hit the gym early for leg day. After shower go grab a good breakfast at Station 400. In a perfect world, I might head to the tattoo shop and get some new art by Kim Albers at Oddity. Grab some lunch, go home and write the most epic content known to man. Finish the day off with some whiskey and a few episodes of The Office.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a shout out to two people who helped me start my business: Heather Parady and Donnie Boivin. Both have acted as mentors and have me given insight, wisdom, and the encouragement I needed to get to where I am today!
