We had the good fortune of connecting with Morgyn Danae and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Morgyn, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The idea to start my own business began in the late 1990’s at the age of 27 or 28. It was a period full of synchronicities and the offerings that would be a part of the foundation of my business all showed their roots around the same time. It initially came from a sense of a calling by Spirit to teach bellydance as a healing art as it had been such a lifeline for my own healing and a joyful passion that I wanted to share with other women, especially. I was blessed to receive encouragement by my spiritual mentor because I had a lot of self-doubt. But on this self-healing path, I was also experiencing, studying, being trained, and beginning to practice breathwork, meditation, body work-energy work, and spiritual guidance. It all seemed to fit together so well and just made sense to start offering classes, workshops, and 1:1 sessions to people in my community in Tucson, Arizona.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a healing artist and dancer, spiritual intuitive guide, mystic, and holistic wellness practitioner. As a creative, I embody, teach, and perform dance through the divine feminine as an expressive healing art and path of connecting with the spiritual & natural worlds, and building loving community. I support others on the path of self-love to excavate, explore, and express their own creative, dancer spirit while building and practicing a foundation of self-care.

Often we work with reclaiming that bridge to our creative center (heart, sacral, and root chakras) by healing trauma, the unintegrated shadow, the disconnection from the heart-soul-body and nature, and physical issues that manifest in the modern world, especially dysfunctions and weakness in the belly/core/low back/pelvis/hips. I incorporate my background as a certified core-pelvic specialist in bodywork, breath coaching, and corrective exercise where it is needed.

I moved to California just before the pandemic so I’ve had to navigate a lot in order to build my practice here. But in 2023, I’m really excited about public speaking and teaching workshops at our local mental health conferences and gatherings as well as offering my outdoor community dance therapy programs using a silent event headphone system for a private, immersive experience.
We meet bimonthly for “Bellydance Therapy by the Sea” for women, a program of workshops at curated seashore spots in Laguna Beach.
“Nature Walks with Meditative Dance” events is a monthly program for all people (14+ years accompanied by an adult) at beautiful parks and hiking trails (with specific dance spots) in our gorgeous Orange County.
Both of these programs are the seeds of future events, longer workshops, retreats, and outdoor performances.

I’ve really just followed Spirit’s guidance to concurrently develop my profession and heal myself. This approach is multi-disciplinary and has come through spiritual training, clinical and creative study and practice, inner remembering of ancestral wisdom, and listening to the guidance of the natural world. This has not been an easy path because the inner work is always required to evolve my work as well as the demands of being a solopreneur. I’ve had to overcome my own past of somatic and mental illness based on childhood trauma but healing those issues has been a tremendous asset for supporting others and informing my creative expression. “Healer, Heal Thyself.”

People are much more open in these times because they want effective solutions but the creative-spiritual-natural combination is still cutting edge though at the same time, ancient. It goes against the grain of modern society which is why it’s so powerful.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank all of my spiritual teachers, professional & creative mentors, and mental health practitioners who have supported and guided me along the way and helped me in both my own recovery journey and my professional work. And many thanks to the book “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho for reminding me to always believe in the magical path lifeline of following our wildest dreams.
