We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Woehler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Over the years, I have learned that I find the most joy and fulfillment when I am telling stories, be it on the stage through theatre or on the page through my writing. There is something so incredible about people listening to, sharing, and learning from stories. Fiction and fact alike can have a powerful impact on us through empathy and emotional connection, and when I get to be a part of that I have an unparalleled sense of joy.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being able to say that my career consists of entertaining and performing is an incredible blessing. I first fell in love with the stage with I was 11 years old, performing in my first play at The Canyon Theatre Guild in Newhall, CA. Since then I have been fortunate enough to earn my BA in Acting from George Fox University, perform theatre in Munich, Germany, join the Davis Shakespeare Ensemble for two years, be a part of the opening entertainment team for Disney’s Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, and most recently, becoming a member of The Actor’s Co-op in Hollywood, CA. That road was filled with trials and heartache, setbacks and sacrifices, but if I have learned anything through my life as an actor, it is that perseverance truly does pay off. The road of a creative career can feel lonely and overwhelming, which is why having a strong and loving support system is key to not only being a surviving but a thriving artist.

I am currently being kept busy with the world premier production of The Human Comedy at the Actors Co-op. It is a beautiful coming of age story set on the homefront of World War Two. It is a brilliant show littered with laughter and tears and really asks a lot of good questions of the audience. We run until April 23rd, though it will most likely be extended!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend has a week to soak up as much as this city as possible, we’re starting the week out by getting coffee and breakfast in Burbank at Coffee Commissary, then heading to The Walt Disney Studios for a studio tour and lunch. After soaking up the rick creative and artistic history there, we would drive through Los Feliz and Griffith park, ending at the Observatory to watch the sunset and take in the best view of the city. We would then end the day with dinner at Petit Trois in Sherman Oaks where you can order the best burger EVER. Period. It will change your life.

The rest if the week would include day trips via Amtrak to Santa Barbara and San Diego where wine tasting and some of the best speakeasy’s can be found. We would see a show at the Pantages, hit up Universal Studios and Disneyland, and explore Newport Beach. The southern California area is absolutely rich with hidden gems to explore and this city has so much more to offer than just the typical cliche things people associate with Los Angeles.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Huge thanks and much love to my soul sisters Alisha Steven and Laura Hood – they keep me grounded and point me back to my faith. Being an actor requires a lot of time and long hours, and I am so very grateful for the way my people support and encourage me through even the most chaotic seasons of life.
