Meet Kaitlyn Davis-Linton | Fashion Model

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaitlyn Davis-Linton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaitlyn, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Since I was a child, I have honestly loved anything that allows me to express my creativity. To spend my time at home during the pandemic, I started making abstract paintings by pouring paint. I was afterward taken aback by how well it performed and used that to launch a business. I was unfulfilled during that time and wanted to learn more about fashion so I started modeling. I relished every aspect of modeling since there were no creativity restrictions and no stigma attached to it. In modeling, we were not required to have a particular appearance or adapt to someone else’s fashion sense; rather, it was expected that we would be singular and unmistakable. There was enthusiasm surrounding everything, including the audition process, photo shoots, and runway walks. I started working behind the scenes with fashion directors because I wanted to grasp what was required behind the scenes to be a director now that I knew what it entailed to be a fashion model. I appreciated both sides of being a fashion director and model, which makes me eager to see what the future holds.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe what makes me unique is the fact that I have always had creative aspirations rather than a dream of becoming a fashion model. Because of who my parents are and what they do, I believe that the hardest thing for me was having to grow up believing that you need a college education to succeed or that you should never pursue your passions because you’ll end up hating them. I didn’t realize I could get a college degree, maintain a balance, and do the things I love until I started living for me rather than for others. I discovered that by allowing myself to pursue my own interests, I had a positive influence on others and inspired them to follow suit.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Nothing compares to traveling abroad out of all the places I have visited. I don’t think it’s good to keep doing the same things over and over again, but if you try new things, you’ll be pushed out of your comfort zone and will feel more optimistic about it.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Since I had to start my road alone, I can honestly say that there isn’t anyone I would give credit or recognition to. My mother’s early interest in modeling served as encouragement for me even if I lacked that backing. I now have greater support from my friends and family because they have seen my abilities and what I am capable of.
