Meet Vicky Pasion | Artist and Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Vicky Pasion and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Vicky, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“For what it’s worth… it’s never too late, or in my case too early, to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit. Start whenever you want. You can change or stay the same. There are no rules to this thing… I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start over again.”
I love this quote by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I always find myself circling back to it whenever I’m going through a challenging season and need a reminder that anything is possible. So often we can trap ourselves into a rhythm of life that blocks our creativity. We can become tired by the cycles of life and experience loss and change – this quote is a gentle reminder that it’s not too late to start again.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I’m in the middle of writing and recording my next music project and having so much fun. I’ve been invited by Spotify into their London and LA studios, and I’m so proud of the music that’s flowing out in this season. I’m in a much happier place in my life – since the pandemic, the world as we know it has fragmented, and I’ve been prioritising my healing era. This time, I’m moving away from the intensity of the mind and overthinking and towards my body and letting go. Waves of loss ripple throughout the world as we mourn loved ones, old spaces, relationships and the past as we once knew them to be. I’m leaning into difficult emotions and holding space for more light, hope and acceptance of imperfections.
I’ve got to where I am today with an incredible team – Gifted, by Nature. We champion women and people of colour in the media industry, and I’m proud of how far we’ve come. I’ve recently partnered with Sony Music’s AWAL – and honestly, the number one lesson has been patience. What’s for you, won’t miss you.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love this question! For a week-long trip, I’d definitely head straight to Hollywood to immerse yourself in central LA living. I’d take a stroll towards Runyon and hike to the top, take in the sights and open yourself up to possibilities. You’re in LA – where will your heart lead you?
In the evening, I’d have a 70s night and head to Good Times at Davey Wayne’s for a comfy Califronian vibe and live music. I’d then head to a secret cocktail bar in the heavens of a pizza joint at 800 degrees – keep an eye out for Sunset and Vinyl.
If you’re looking for a community rooted in love and culture, I’d check out live music events run by Salt Eaters Bookshop, Club House Global, Kids of Immigrants, and Soulection.
I love thrifting – so I’d definitely head to Melrose Avenue to browse the vintage shopping strip to find some hidden gems. I’d also head to The Grove on a lazy Sunday, or The Melrose Trading Post for food and to connect and support local artists. In the spirit of living free, I’d rent a scooter to explore Larchmont Village.
If around West Hollywood, I’d grab brunch at a vegan spot – Nic’s on Beverly – their pizzas are to die for. I’m a sucker for sweet treats, so I’d also get some baked donuts at Fonuts, and take advantage of all the bougie gyms and yoga studios around. If splurging, I’d spend time at The Pool at the Sunset Tower Hotel, and have a Pretty Woman moment around Rodeo Drive.
If Downtown, I’d head to the arts district to soak in some culture at The Broad and Museum of Contemporary Art. I’d meander towards The Last Bookstore, and grab drinks Upstairs at the Ace Hotel. I’d also take a trip to Union Station – the Art Deco is a vibe, and it would be easy to hop on a last minute train to places like San Diego, San Francisco, or even Vegas!
You can’t visit LA without making the most of the beach. I’d rent a skateboard or bike and soak in a laid back ride from Redondo to Manhattan beach, and up the strip towards Marina Del Rey, Venice Beach and Santa Monica. I’d catch the sunset on Santa Monica Pier and take a moment to soak in the free-spirited energy.
If you’re feeling like jumping into something exciting, I’d definitely catch a Lakers Game or head to Universal Studios – the immersive experience is unforgettable!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to take this opportunity to shout out Vital Voices and Estée Lauder. Last year, I was selected as a trailblazing woman as part of their partnership that invests in emerging leaders from around the world. The programme equips women who are making waves in various industries and are having influential impact within their communities. It’s already been an incredible journey.
Being a VV Visionary has exposed me to a driven and supportive network, and has fostered meaningful collaborations. The VV Summit in Washington this year was an intimate 3-day experience packed with panels, workshops and mentors. It showed me the delicate balance of persistence and humility when it comes to negotiation, and has affirmed that sustainable change is centred on building trust in relationships over time.
