Meet Nina Hirten | Film/TV Editor, Director and Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nina Hirten and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nina, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I’ve always been a risk taker, I think – There was a point where I realized that nothing that I wanted to happen would just happen without my taking some steps towards making it happen, and once you do that successfully a few times it becomes easier until it’s normal.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I live and breathe art, movies and music. I’m always looking for ways to meld them all together and express myself with the intent of inspiring others to do the same. In my personal art, this usually means that I write and perform a song, then make a music video (usually with animation involved), but sometimes it’s as simple as creating a drawing, which is also something I love to do.

It has been a road to get to where to I am today, where I can make the art I want to make – this road was mostly about making mistakes and learning from it and the more experienced people that have guided me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I were to show a friend around LA, I’d definitely take them dance skating at Venice Beach and hiking through Coldwater Canyon Park. I’d most likely also catch a concert or two! Of course, we can’t forget to have a drink at Clifton’s downtown!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband has been my rock and biggest influence ever since I’ve known him. He pushes me to be my best, true self all the while being a hardworking musician and dad to our three daughters.
