We asked folks to tell us about their favorite quote or affirmation and to tell us what it means to them. We’ve shared some of those responses below.

One of my favorite quotes is from Andy Warhol; . “Don’t think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.” One of the greatest obstacles to a creative practice is the presence of a judging voice in one’s own head that, if you pay it too much attention, can quickly shut down the creative process. We waste time looking for the perfect lover instead of creating the perfect love. – Tom Robbins, from his book, “Jitterbug Perfume”. This quote is so personal to me because I spent so much of my life seeking validation and approval from others, and it was through a long journey of healing that I learned that love has to come primarily from within. My favorite quote is “If you ask me what I came to do in this world, ‘I am an Artist,’ will answer you. I am here to live out loud,” by Emile Zola. I too am here to live out loud. When I couldn’t find the artistic community I was looking for, I started one and called it, The Artist Theatre Group. There I began teaching and doing the kind of work in class that I was looking to do.
