We had the good fortune of connecting with Silvia Imperatrice and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Silvia, how do you think about risk?
There’s an Italian saying that goes “Chi non risica non rosica” which translates to “Nothing ventured nothing gained”. That’s true of my life and my career. I woulnd’t have moved to LA to pursue my dream if I was scared of taking risks, I wouldn’t have ventured in the entertainment business if I didn’t firmly believe that with great risk come great success.
I’m not a patient person. I want everything and I want it now. This desire drove me to take more risks than most people and fortunately it paid off.
I was able to take such risks because I’ve always had a stable and strong safety net that supported me throughout my adventures. I’m talking about my family and my friends, invaluable pillars without which I couldn’t have chased and, later on, obtained my dream job.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My professional journey has not followed a straight line. It has rather been a rollercoaster. I’ve started as a translator but it was pretty clear that I wanted to work in the entertainment business, I wanted to be a producer, I wanted to follow a project from start til finish.
That’s what I did. I went to study in the mecca of cinema and I brought back what I’ve learned.
Thanks to a series of coincidences or predetermined circumstances, I’ve had the chance to land in a company which values their employees and colleagues that support you and push you to be the best version of yourself.
We have multiple projects in the works, movies and TV series that will impact the Italian cinema.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spot in Los Angeles is the Santa Monica area. It’s a vibrant neighborhood where people can find works of art, lovely cafes and a breathtaking view of the ocean. In multiple occasions, especially when I wasn’t feeling so good, I would get lost in the streets and alleys near the shore.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I personally would like to thank all the people who told me that I wouldn’t make it in this business, for they helped me to reach the position I’m in. I’m lucky enough to be extremely strong-willed and I’ve always kept going despite all the not so positive feedbacks I received. That’s my greatest pride.
So if there’s anyone out there who went through the same awful predicament, please don’t give up, hold on and pretty soon you’ll get where you want to go.
