We had the good fortune of connecting with Rich Rosales and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
To be completely honest, I don’t know if there’s anything that particularly sets me apart from other creatives. At the end of the day I love what I do and I think that is something that a lot of my peers share in common with me. I have been doing standup comedy for over 10 years and I thought by now I would have mastered how to not completely bomb on stage. Turns out I am no where close haha, but that is ok because I love the process. My idea of success used to be a destination or a place that you get to and you’ve just “made it”, but that idea no longer exists to me. I think true success is loving the journey for everything that it brings. The journey is going to throw every wrench at you it can find to throw you off your path, but every time you keep moving forward you are reaffirming your belief in yourself and the validity of your dreams. As many of the greats have said, it’s not about getting there, it’s about who you become in the process. I can finally say I like who I’m becoming.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Haha well I love taking long drives more than anything. I think I struck gold when I moved to LA because it has some of the most beautiful scenic drives you could ever imagine. I would probably take them down Sunset through Laurel Canyon and then wrap all the way to the top of Malibu, down the coast and end up in Santa Monica. I would take them to Pedaler’s Fork in Calabasas for lunch and then for dinner probably go out to the Pendry in West Hollywood for a view of the city. After that we would catch a show at the Comedy Store. I think that would be a solid day in LA.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family has been instrumental in my success and my decision to never give up on my dreams. Every time I have wanted to quit they have always told me that success is right around the corner if I just keep pushing. It’s because of their support and countless others that I am still steadfast on my journey and I could not be more grateful.
