What’s one thing about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?


We asked experts from a broad range of industries to open up to us about things they know about their industry but that we probably don’t and we’ve shared some of those responses below.

The fashion industry is big but the local circle is small in the way that other people will likely know about someone and their reputation at some point. Many will try to break into the industry but it is actually difficult to form any working relationships with the best people/factories in the business, especially if someone known to be difficult to work with, unorganized, and not reliable. One of the most exciting aspects of TV and filmmaking is the collaboration – and just the sheer number of different creative professionals who come together to bring a project to life. It’s awesome, and the more I collaborate with others who are passionate about their crafts, the more it gets me exciting to keep creating more. Being an artist can be isolating sometimes. You work alone towards a goal. You have your vision, and you’re often unsure if others will connect with it. I think a lot of people are unaware of how much psychology and Social studies play a part in the entertainment industry. The best creators with wide ranges are usually well knowledgeable on the functions of the human mind/emotions and educate themselves on historical facts and theories.
