Meet Olivia Carlisle | Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Olivia Carlisle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Olivia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
My entire career is built around the risks i’m willing to take. Musically, you have to take risks to stay relevant. Even with branding it’s vital to take risks. You look at an artist like Taylor Swift, who’s made a career out of risk taking by genera shifting. It keeps her audience engaged and always wondering what you’re going to do next. I’d say this current chapter of my career has been solely about risk taking.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a musician. Primarily I am a vocalist and performer. I also produce, play piano, and run a podcast. I think what sets me apart as an artist is my versatility. I’ve recently branched out into a more metal/rock sound, but traditionally made more pop/r&b music. I think i’ve got something in my discography for everyone. I’m most proud and excited about the upcoming live shows. I took several year long hiatus from live performances and I’m so happy to be back. I want the world to know that I am not just an artist. One of the most important things to me, is to use my platform for good. As a bisexual woman, supporting the Lgbtq+ community is incredibly important to me. We all deserve love, no matter what it looks like. I will fight for the equality of all queer people for as long as possible.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite things is to show off my hometown in Greenville, South Carolina. Greenville is so exuberant and beautiful. I’ve lived in this city since I was about ten year old. There are so many incredible places to see. Some restaurants or bars I would recommend would be The Lounge, Spill The Beans, Velo Fellow, and Jianna. One of the best parts of Greenville is the scenery. Falls park downtown is absolutely gorgeous as well as Pretty Place up on the mountain.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d Love to give all the credit in the world to all the incredible people that have helped me get where I am. First of all, Britt Jones my producer, cohost, and friend. He pushed me back into music in a time where I wasn’t sure if i would ever write again. I’d also love to recognize my incredible band, Logan, Chase, Drew, and Aaron. These guys never complain and always blow my expectations out of the water. These people are the most vital to my crew and truly keep the music alive.
