We had the good fortune of connecting with Erik Bersamina and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erik, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Well, music has always been a huge part of my life. I have my grandpa to thank for that, who has played in many bands his entire life and still to this day.

From getting my first drum kit at 2 years old and playing school drums/percussion from elementary through college, to teaching myself music production — I knew that if I didn’t pursue my dreams of music in one form or another, I would 100% regret it down the line…and who wants to live & die with regret?

Plus, just the idea of having an idea in your head and then making it come to life for the world to hear, is one of the wildest yet most amazing things us as human beings can do.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a record producer. I primarily make House, but I actually started my career making Hip-Hop with EDM sounds and styles. If I could describe my vision, I want to be really good at making EDM on its own, really good at Hip-Hop on its own, and be really good and unique at making fusions of the two. Both genres are HUGE on their own and I would like to contribute in building the bridge between the two fanbases. I love both. Plus I’m really lucky to have good friends in both industries and I learn a TON from all of them.

I am also the co-creator of the newly formed Outliers Creative Agency, and our main project is currently our podcast where we want to shed light not only on musical artists, but promoters, fashion and graphic designers, actors/screenwriters…ALL forms or entertainment. Stay tuned because we got big plans.

I got to where I am today really just by being as nice of a person as I can be to everyone I meet. Everyone who’s a creative is going through the same things more or less…the obvious love and drive for the craft, the search for guidance, and also doubt — lots of it. But the cool thing about it is that everyone goes through it. That’s why it’s important to make as many friends as you can in this industry so you can help build each other up. Everybody eats.

I for sure still deal with some of those things today, and it’s never easy. But, you press on. If there is nothing else in the world that matters as much as your craft, why wouldn’t you go all in?

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hmmm. I myself am still getting a feel of getting around LA even a year into living here, but as far as food goes, any taco stand on the side of the street will never let anyone down. Just come on now.

I currently live in Koreatown and am lucky I live by a lot of cool spots for drinks and karaoke and a fun time at night so anywhere around here is dope. Egg Tuck is really good for a hangover breakfast.

I’ve been to the Griffith Observatory a few times with some friends and family visiting, and the exhibits are cool and free. Plus…that view. Also, always wanted to go to Avalon Hollywood for a show and I finally did last year. Amazing venue.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Of course I want to shout out my family…Mom, Dad, Lei & Lyss…for your undying support of my dreams for music. It’s been with me my entire life so thank you.

Grandpa B, my first ever musical inspiration. Thank you for opening me up to the world of music. Seriously.

Every artist, engineer, and promoter I’ve ever worked with, there’s just too many to name all of you, but thank you for taking a chance on me…especially my brothers NicoDee & Kyree, my team at Outliers Creative Agency, and all who have supported me by listening/sharing my music and coming to my shows. Beyond blessed.

Peace & Love
