Meet Jose Arce | Recording Studio Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jose Arce and we’ve shared our conversation below.

What should our readers know about your business?
At the end of 2021, I successfully developed GRL SND Studios, a recording studio specifically for women and LGBTQ+ musicians. As someone who has interned at various recording studios, I saw firsthand how these talented musicians were mistreated and not given the same opportunities as others. This experience inspired me to create a safe space where they can create music without fear or judgment.

Developing a business was a challenging experience for me, especially since it was my first time doing so. However, with my team’s help, I got GRL SND Studios up and running. What sets us apart from other businesses is our commitment to ensuring everyone who walks through our doors feels comfortable and safe enough to express themselves freely. Our goal is to provide a platform for these artists to share their craft with the world and help them feel empowered and supported.

I am proud of what we have accomplished and excited to see what the future holds for GRL SND Studios.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite places to visit in Los Angeles is the Griffth Observatory and hiking trails. It is only ten minutes away from my recording studio, GRL SND. Not only is the Griffith Observatory an excellent hiking trail, but it has breathtaking views, especially during sunset. Afterward, the famous coffee shop, Maru, in Los Feliz is located in an excellent area to walk around and enjoy the different neighborhoods in the city. For lunch, a visit to L.A. wouldn’t be complete without a trip to In-N-Out Burger. Also, a trip to Hollywood would be incomplete without a visit to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Most L.A. visitors enjoy a visit to the Chinese Theater for a film and enjoy dinner at Katsuya Hollywood. California beaches are also stunning; I would encourage any visitor to make sure they have a chance to see the Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach, Malibu Beach, and Laguna Beach. Such places are perfect for acai bowls for lunch and seafood for dinner during a visit to the beach at sunset. Other great hiking trails include Runyon Canyon and Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook; they also have amazing views. Porto’s Bakery is ideal for fans of Cuban food and desserts. Also, I always recommend a trip to the Magic Castle in Hollywood for any out-of-town visitors. At the magic castle, visitors enjoy an evening of dinner and magic tricks by their talented staff. It sounds cliche, but it’s a fun experience, and the food is fantastic. Lastly, any visitors seeking to take in L.A.’s breathtaking views over dinner should dine at 71Above in downtown Los Angeles. The service, food, and views are all five-star!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I just wanted to take a moment to give a shoutout to some of the most influential people in my life who have helped me get to where I am today. Firstly, my partner Eric has been a great support system for me. He’s always had faith in my dreams and has gone above and beyond to help me make them a reality. GRL SND Studios wouldn’t be where it is today without his dedication and hard work.

I also want to give a big thanks to my parents, who have always believed in me and supported me in every way possible. They helped me out financially with the development of the studio and have been a constant source of encouragement throughout this process. They always told me that if I did the work, I could achieve anything I wanted, and I genuinely believe that.

I’m so grateful to have such amazing people who have helped me get to where I am today. Without their support, I couldn’t have pursued my passion for music and created something extraordinary with GRL SND Studios.
