We had the good fortune of connecting with Monique Fraile and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Monique, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is to always stay true to myself and put customers first. At events and when placing orders, I always make sure to let the customers feel safe when ordering with me. Aside from this, I always aim to keep my prices reasonable so that everyone can get a chance to try out my treats. Building a strong relationship with my customers goes a long way as I have created a strong and loyal foundation for my business that is always willing to support me in any business venture I may go on.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is a dessert shop made from love. My goal is to help others express their love and gratitude through desserts. I specialize in an array of custom desserts like chocolate covered strawberries, cupcakes, dessert shooters, banana puddings, cheesecakes, and more. I also love to focus of different and unique flavors for my toppings weekly: for example the “elote” or corn strawberry. I started Momo’z Berriez in 2020 during the beginning of the pandemic as a way to pass time and do what I love. It was not easy to get to where I am today as when I first began I was still a full time student at UCLA and had 2 part time jobs as well. I took a year off after graduating and made the decision to begin making desserts last October. In December, I knew I needed to step out of my comfort zone to grow my business and that is when I decided to venture on to pop-up events. I have learned to be patient and that consistency is key to a successful brand.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a friend visiting LA, I would take them to drink some good ol’ Tierra Mia. You can never go wrong with a horchata frappe. I would also go to griffith observatory and do the Hollywood sign hike. Also, go visit and hike in Palos Verdes. Another place would be the Americana at Brand in Glendale. There’s so much to do in LA the options are endless.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my parents. Thank you mom and dad for always believing in me and helping me since day one. None of this wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t for you both putting up with the mess in the kitchen and closets. Thank you for giving me the courage to step out of my comfort zone and to be able to put my talents and passions out there for everyone to see.
