We had the good fortune of connecting with Darciana Reynolds and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darciana, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Lemonade in the Garden’s mission is to service underrepresented Black Artist(s) by aiding in their development within the fine art world. We do this through building community and providing a platform for their art, aiming to provide a space for their voices to be heard and their work to be seen.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?Lemonade in the Garden started as an all Black Woman art collective. We all attended college together and came together during the pandemic to discuss the importance of hearing Black voices within the fine art world. Through the process of navigating as an Art Collective we decided to use our voice to not only showcase our own art but rather uplift other Black Artists as well. We are most excited for our upcoming events this summer in NYC. This is our first time doing these type of gathers which aim to highlight and bring Black Artists together. Our main event being a recent community building / networking event we recently hosted at Prospect Park and we also have an upcoming Drawing Night, stay tuned to our instagram for more information on upcoming Lemonade in the Garden events as we have many planned for the summer.

Some of the hardest lessons we learned are to continue with the mission even when it feels like no one is listening or cares. And that everything happens in due time.

The world should know that Lemonade in the Garden is here to stay! So get use to it and come get to know us and the work we are doing. As well as the work we aim to do.
Enjoy. Heal. Love thyself and others.
Welcome to the Garden!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

It’s NYC so it definitely depends on the weekend. For food I would take them to Harlem to get some Oxtails and Rice and Peas at Mamas. Then we can make a trip to the Schomberg Center to check out what exhibits they have or buy some merch. Then we can end the night at Hush or go to Ktown for karaoke.

If its summer time I for sure taking them to a street fair for good eats and to far rockaway for the beach!
