We had the good fortune of connecting with Evelyn Aquije and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Evelyn, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always been passionate about fashion and styling. After attending FIDM I was able to gain plenty of experience in retail merchandising and wardrobe styling. My passion for personal styling started in 2019 and I instantly knew that I wanted to start my own business. In 2020 during the pandemic I decided to further my education and received a certification so I can better serve my clients. I love helping clients shop for new pieces and showing them how to style outfits together. Seeing them radiate with confidence and happiness brings me so much joy! Styling by Eve offers closet edit and organization, personal shopping and styling outfits. For more details on our services check out our website.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Fashion is not an easy industry and it taught me so many lessons. If I had to pick just one it would be to not compare yourself to others. I know it’s easier said than done but I cannot empathize this enough. Comparing yourself to what you see on social media and where you “should be” in life/business was challenging at first. I remember thinking it would not take me too long after my certification in 2020 to open my business but I kept getting in my head about getting it perfect before launching. It does not have to be perfect at the beginning that is the beauty of growth. Styling by Eve came to vision for our clients to feel confident with their wardrobe and to help achieve their goals. We are here to help getting dressed convenient and stress-free!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In Los Angeles/Orange County there is so much to do! If you know me you know I love going to support my local small businesses. Pop-ups have been my favorite places lately for shopping and eating. You get to meet so many business owners and see their creativity. Some of my favorites include Shop Small Soiree and Creative Babe Market. I recently moved to OC and found the restaurant Taco Rosa, this place has amazing food and drinks!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Wow, this is a tough question because I have so many people to thank. First and foremost, thank you to my husband! Without a doubt he is my biggest supporter and never allowed me to give up. He is my inspiration to keep pushing forward and Styling by Eve would not be possible without him. I also have to thank my family (mom, dad, brother, and sister) for their unconditional support and encouraging words throughout this process. Lastly, to my entrepreneur friends who own their small businesses and inspire me to follow in their footsteps. My heart is so full and I’m blessed to have such an amazing group of people supporting me.
