We had the good fortune of connecting with Rickie B. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rickie, why did you pursue a creative career?
Honestly the music chose me during a time where i was truly down in life. I always had an interest and a talent for rapping and creating songs but it wasn’t until i was truly in need of an outlet that music kinda of met me exactly where i needed it in life. So with all that I had, I learned how to produce beats. Eventually that turned into me writing and recording. Next thing i know i had a full project out.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a music artist (rapper/singer/music producer/music engineer) from North Las Vegas (also known as NORF Town). What sets me apart from others is that music is my purpose. It’s not just a hobby or something to just make money off of. I have stories to tell and people to help. In turn, music has done the same for me. What allows me to stand out is my versatility and to be able to truly capture the emotion out of a song. My storytelling is vivid and my lyricism is both witty and engaging. I’m easy on the ear but I’m also technical enough to where you gotta play it back a couple of times to grasp what I’m truly saying. I’m also a collaborator and a supporter and there’s not many where I’m from that can honestly say that they do both. I just wanna see myself and others shine at the same time. In that same token, that’s probably what I’m most proud of … that I’m just true to who I am as a person. Integrity is how I got to where I am in my career along with hard work and combining it with my talent. It hasn’t been easy but it has at the same time. I overcame my challenges by persevering and not settling for just anything. But, when you do something you love, it’s easy to keep going. Some of the lessons I’ve learned in this thing is 1. Nothing will be handed to you. You gotta earn it. 2. Integrity will take you further than anything. If you help others people remember that and it’ll go a long way. 3. Know who you are and excel at that. 4. Don’t forget those that have helped you as well. What I would like people to know about my brand is that it is inclusive. My brand is a reflection of those that are walking into their destiny and aren’t afraid to live within their purpose. It takes a community to build and if you build with me then you will also gain something in return. That’s what my brand. stands for.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m kind of a home body to be honest so the best spot would be a weekend turn up at my parents crib. My mom is the best cook (ask those that know) … going there, you’d get a home cooked meal, and good vibes. Great convos and catch the fights or a game or a movie. Outside of that, I’d say my favorite spot to chill would be Jewel or the Blue Martini. Ninja Karaoke is slowly becoming a lil vibe for me too. I also like to go outdoors a bit and hit up Red Rock and get some fresh air and/or hoop up at Craig Ranch Park. You may catch a performance by a big name artist or a festival there too. If I do gamble (which isn’t a lot) I always end up at Aliante. So yea that would be the weekend itinerary, start outdoors and work our way to my parents crib, then out to the clubs mentioned above. It’s other spots too I like but i can’t give everything away.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d personally like to shout out Jesus Christ first and foremost. Secondly I’d like to shout out Luke Wynn as he’s been instrumental to my success thus far as a brother and as a mentor. Dude has helped me tremendously and has been the main person pushing me and driving me to do and be better and to work harder at my craft. I thank my team, Qweezy’ and X.Darvi as well and of course my family, They’re the reason I do this.
