Meet Brea Holmes | Costume Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brea Holmes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brea, what inspires you?
I’m inspired by everything….music, people, books, movies. A lot of what I love inspires me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Costume Designer for the entertainment industry. I have displayed my craft in different mediums from Tv and film to live performance.

I feel like my versatility is what sets me apart in my work. I have touched on everything genre and medium-wise.

Since graduating, I have worked on numerous projects in Theatre, Film, and TV. I have also had the pleasure for working for companies such as Marvel, Disney plus, Tidal, Universal Music Mexico, TNT, and Lionsgate.

Currently, I’m a member of IATSE Local 892 Costume Designer’s Guild and Local 768.

The industry is so unpredictable. One year, I’m on top of the world going from project to project. The next year, might be a little more barren because of limited work opportunities. I have had to keep looking at the positives and why I wanted to be a designer in the first place often. The industry and inconsistency has been one of the hardest things to deal with.

I want people to know that I love what I do! I love creating people and lives and bringing them to life on screen. The process from script to screen has always been a fun process to me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I won’t give a day-to-day itinerary, but I would give some of my favorite spots to go and explore:

Lift Coffee (nice little vibe)

85 Degrees (If you love bread, dessert and coffee….this is it!)

Kalaveras (The best pasta dishes I’ve ever had)

Ichiraku Ramen (If you are a anime nerd like me…..then you know)

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to God, My family and My friends. My support system is what has gotten me as far as I am today.
