We had the good fortune of connecting with Marlana Tucker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marlana, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I want to be able to create jobs for my community at the same time inspiring people to explore entrepreneurship.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is my heart. From my original pieces to the pieces I’ve imitated, I put all my love on the canvas. Art is therapy. For me, just being able to paint a masterpiece promotes my mental health and spiritual healing.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our plans would go as follows: Day 1: 5am Sunrise yoga on Bruce Beach.
7am Breakfast at Nick’s Manhattan Beach
9am The Butterfly Exhibit
11am Pelletier Spa & shopping in Beverly Hills
Erykah Badu/ Jhene Aiko concert DTLA.
Drinks at Secrets in WeHo

Day 2: A day in Catalina
Helicopter ride to Catalina Island
Snorkeling, Jetskiing, water boarding, Fishing, create content
Party w/ locals Luau on the beach
(Fly home early morning)

Day 3: Couples day 1

Sip and Paint
Indoor Rock Climbing
Leimert Park African Music Festival and Fashion Show
Couples massages & mani-pedis
Lakers game at Staples center
Poetry Lounge/ Karaoke and Open Mic

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
“Hustle Harder, Hustle Smarter” by Curtis Jackson After reading this book I’ve gained a new respect for artist turned business moguls. I often refer to it to help me sharpen, enhance and polish my business skills. Mr. Jackson gave so many life tools and dropped priceless jewels we could all use in this book.
