Meet Madison Williams | Professional Dancer & Choreographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Madison Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Madison, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
Funny enough, this is an incredible question but it can be challenging to put into words (so I’m glad you asked). My daily self-actualization, my loved ones, and my career are what actually bring me joy. To put simply, all of these aspects of my life are interwoven in such a way that I value what I have over what I don’t.
Family & friends are everything to me! I know some of the funniest people around. And if you know me, you know I love to laugh until I can no longer breathe. That’s what important to me, the simple things in life. Sharing a common experience with my boyfriend family and friends are what propels me to be the best version of myself. And knowing that these people in my life are safe and healthy, I can’t find any other reason why I wouldn’t be happy.
I am so proud of the person I’ve become because it has taken me years to understand who I am (I give thanks to God & the pandemic). My career as a professional dancer and my self actualization are both very essential because whatever I do is greater than what I am. But being who I am, it is simpler for me to connect with how I want to express myself with those around me. I find confidence in who I am becoming and feel at ease in my own flesh. I encourage everyone to seek this kind of happiness within themselves.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
What sets me apart from others is my powerful quality of movement. Just like Mohammed Ali’s famous quote “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee” I use this in a way where I am able to learn with humility and vulnerability but absolutely attack with fearlessness and strength…something that has taken me years to appreciate within myself. It wasn’t always this simple. I used to think this was a weakness but quickly noticed that trying to be like others would never serve me in the way I should express myself. Because of this, I look to other dancers who inspire me to be exactly who I am in hopes to inspire fellow dancers and the students I teach.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Here’s how life would go for my friend & I… We would wake up and start our day outdoors with either a pilates workout or hiking the Runyon Canyon. After freshening up, we’d break our fast with a huge bowl of fruit (hydration people!) and then head out to Eggslut for some more food. From there, we’d head straight to Melrose Ave. Knowing my friends and I, we love to shop so we’d shop until we dropped and make our way to this amazing Italian restaurant called Spartina (on Melrose) or if we were looking for something a little more scenic, we’d eat at Mama Shelter. For dinner, we’d eat in Van Nuys and have THE most amazing Vegan Mexican I’ve ever had called, El Cocinero. To end off our night, we’d go to Santa Monica beach where we would have a small picnic, walk on the pier and watch the sunset.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
SHOUTOUT to my boyfriend Giancarlo. If it wasn’t for him being the most honest, encouraging and positive being in my life, I still think I would be “stuck” in a fixed mindset. Thank you for your kindness & generosity, my love.
