Meet Curtis Thurston | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Curtis Thurston and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Curtis, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My initial thought process was to build a multimedia company that specializes in freelance photography and cinematography for hire and a small record label all under one roof. I hired a few photographers based in NYC, Chicago, and the DMV area remotely and the record label branch of the company was a few of my friends who were doing music

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My brand is all me, my brand is Big Hazzard with the nickname of ShooterBae. I’m a self taught traveling videographer, cinematographer and photographer based in D.C. Things weren’t always easy in my early days but those time were the best as far as learning with trial and error. I also have a company called District Empire Entertainment
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank anybody who’s ever given me pointers, additional ideas, creative criticism or refferals to help me improve or move further in my career as a photographer and cinematographer. Alycia Clayton, Shawn Cooper and DJ Heat for the most part
