Meet Michael Klaumann | Founder & CEO Happy Camper Web Hosting

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Klaumann and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
In 1996 I became one of the first customers of fledgling internet service provider Earthlink Network.
I quickly became interested in this thing called the World Wide Web and started to learn how to build a “web page.”
Writing the code in a text editor, I went on to build my first website, which 27 years later, is still running.
Driven by an innate desire to solve problems and help others, I continued to build and administer websites for others while always looking for the simplest and most efficient and effective solution.
I noticed how much time I was spending on maintaining basic functions like web security, backups and site speed and then I realized if I was spending this much time as a technical person, other not-so-technical people must be going crazy trying to figure it out on their own.
When my girlfriend was frustrated with her current hosting provider she asked me, “Can you do this? Why don’t you do what they’re doing!”
That was the deciding moment to create something that I wished already existed. Something that had all the features I was looking for built into the service so the user wouldn’t be troubled.
And so Happy Camper Web Hosting was born. I built this company from nothing, completely bootstrapped. It’s mine and now I get to enjoy my clients happiness.
The name is exactly what I want my customers to be…Happy Campers.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Happy Camper Web Hosting caters to individuals and businesses that prioritize functionality and ease of use over technical intricacies. Our target audience consists of businesses seeking an all-in-one solution that handles the technical aspects of web hosting, ensuring their websites work flawlessly while allowing them to focus on their core content, essentially making them “idiot proof”.
Key features of Happy Camper Web Hosting include:
1. Comprehensive Server Security: Every package includes Imunify360 superior security to safeguard websites from potential threats, ensuring the protection of valuable data and user privacy without the need of a plugin.
2. Unbreakable Smart AI Updates: Happy Camper Web Hosting takes care of regular updates and patches without compromising the website’s functionality. Customers can enjoy peace of mind knowing their websites are up to date and secure.
3. Lightning-Fast Speed: With a focus on optimization and performance using LiteSpeed servers and NVMe storage, Happy Camper Web Hosting ensures fast loading times, delivering an exceptional user experience to website visitors.
4. Reliable Backups: Automatic off-site backups are included with every package, eliminating the risk of data loss during unforeseen events or accidental mistakes.
5. WordPress Tool Kit: Enables easy management of all WordPress sites in one convenient location, create one-click staging sites, enable additional WordPress security measures, debugging, etc.
These features either don’t exist at all with other hosting companies or they are ‘premium’ add-ons which you have to pay for.
The thing I’m most proud of is the completeness of the packages and how they really satisfy a missing niche. And also when web developers and other technical savvy people take a look they always go, “Wow, this is awesome!”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start with a beach day. Drive south over the 23 towards Malibu, it’s one of the more beautiful drives and in the spring or after a rain you’ll see flowers and vegetation everywhere! Then once you hit PCH head north for about ½ mile and you’ll see Nicholas Canyon Beach. I love this beach because it’s easy to get to and has a huge sweeping coastline and is perfect for sunset photos 🙂 then I would head south on PCH enjoying the coast line until you get to Santa Monica. From there I would take a walk on the pier and grab a burger at Beach Burger.
Then I would do a Hollywood day. Starting on Hollywood Blvd, checking out the stars and the Chinese Theatre. And right across the street is the El Capitan which has been there since 1926. Then head down La Brea and drive by Charlie Chaplin’s studio (1917) which is now The Jim Henson Company lot. And then head to the NoHo Bistro for some of the best mushroom soup you’ll ever have.
The final day would be downtown. If you haven’t noticed I love history and where things started so this day is perfect for that as it is the birthplace of Los Angeles on Olvera street. Take a stroll down LA’s first street, stopping by the Avila Adobe which is the oldest standing residence in LA built in 1818, then feast up at El Paseo. Once you’re good and fed head over to the Angels Flight Railway built in 1901 then walk through Grand Central Market (grab a bite if you like) and find yourself at the Bradbury Building. if you’re a sci-fi fan you’ll recognize it from Blade Runner.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If it wasn’t for my girlfriend, Laura Nadafi, I would still be tinkering in my home office not realizing the huge potential that stood before me. I wasn’t thinking big enough and she cured me of that!
