We had the good fortune of connecting with Arnav Shah and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Arnav, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
One thing about the filmmaking industry that outsiders are often unaware of is the extensive collaboration and teamwork that goes into creating a film. While movies are often associated with the work of directors and actors, filmmaking is a highly collaborative process that involves numerous individuals and departments working together

Being a director, people think that the directors are the main leaders but what really takes is a village to make something a director has visualised in his mind. The process of bringing that visuals on screen is far more complex than it really looks.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a filmmaker, what sets me apart from others is my comprehensive involvement in the creative process. From inception to completion, I am deeply engaged in every aspect of my stories. I write, direct, and edit my films, allowing me to maintain a cohesive vision and ensure that the final product aligns with my artistic intent

Professionally, I am constantly on a journey of growth and development. While I have achieved certain milestones and gained valuable experience, I still consider myself a work in progress. Each step forward brings its own set of challenges, and it is through perseverance and determination that I continue to move ahead.

One significant challenge I faced was the decision to shift to a new country. It was a daunting experience, filled with uncertainty and a sense of being overwhelmed. However, I refused to let fear hold me back. I embraced the challenge head-on, immersing myself in the new environment, and seeking opportunities to learn and grow.

Overcoming this challenge required a combination of resilience, adaptability, and a willingness to step out of my comfort zone. I sought guidance from mentors and professionals in the industry, networked with like-minded individuals, and remained open to new possibilities. Through hard work, dedication, and a passion for my craft, I gradually built a foundation and established myself in my chosen field.

While the journey hasn’t been easy, it has been incredibly rewarding. The challenges I encountered along the way have shaped me both personally and professionally. They have taught me the importance of perseverance, the value of embracing change, and the significance of staying committed to my goals.

I want to tell stories and I want the world to listen to them and I will make sure that is worth your time and money.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As a fellow homebody, I understand the comfort and joy of staying in. However, I highly recommend stepping out and exploring a couple of gems during your week-long trip. Two must-visit destination is the LACMA museum. and any beach with a warm sun out.
