Meet Mario Bonamigo | Buyer, brand consultant and ambassador

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mario Bonamigo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mario, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
As I approach the pinnacle of my career journey, I reflect on the countless years spent immersed in the vibrant world of retail, interacting closely with the public and collaborating with various companies, both as a buyer and a trusted consultant. Now, I find myself wanting to embark on a new venture — to create my very own line, something that will showcase my passion and vision. Over the last 30 years, I have honed my expertise and garnered invaluable experiences, which have served as stepping stones. I believe that I am ready to envision something on my own.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In 1993, I embarked on my business career by establishing the renowned shop, Sear’s, located in Bassano del Grappa, Italy. Specializing in menswear vintage and heritage clothing, Sear’s quickly gained prominence in the European fashion landscape, earning recognition from sources such as Sportswear International Magazine in 2013. Furthermore, notable figures within the fashion sector, including the renowned Adriano Goldschmied, expressed their admiration for the store, ranking it among his top 10 favourite stores in the world. While my direct involvement in the business has ceased, I take immense pride in the accomplishments achieved during this transformative journey. The knowledge garnered and the experiences gained have been invaluable, serving as a lasting source of gratification and accomplishment. Despite stepping away from the day-to-day operations, the legacy of Sear’s continues to evoke a sense of great pride in me.
Moreover, in the year 2017, I embarked on a new venture by founding my first shirt brand, “ZIP CODE 36061.” This distinctive line of casual shirts drew inspiration from both workwear and Western aesthetics, resulting in a unique fusion of styles that resonated with customers. The brand’s name, 36061, bears the zip code of the town Bassano that I call home, a place I hold dear to my heart and from which I draw immense pride. The product produced has been purchased by various Italian and European shops, including Bottiglierie Roma, Blue Marlin Roma and 14 Once Berlin.
In the year 2018, I had the distinct honour of receiving a request from the renowned motorcycle racer, Maverick Vinales. He approached me with a proposition to produce and design a collection inspired by the thrilling world of motorcycle racing. The primary objective of this collection was to serve as merchandise aimed at promoting his illustrious name and accomplishments, subsequently being made available for purchase through Vinales’s official website.
Today, I transitioned into the role of a buyer for two distinguished shops, each strategically located in Brescia and Varese, Italy, that will be opening soon. Building upon the foundational success of Sear’s, these establishments are carefully curated to embody a similar aesthetic, resonating with the discerning clientele that had come to appreciate the unique offerings and quality associated with my previous venture.
Throughout my journey, I have encountered an array of personal and professional challenges, and I readily acknowledge that I have made my fair share of mistakes. However, it is through these trials and errors that I have gleaned invaluable lessons. With unwavering determination and a fervent passion for my craft, I have successfully surmounted each obstacle that crossed my path.
In the face of adversity, I have approached them with a spirit of unity, undeterred by the daunting nature of the challenges. My enthusiasm for life and work has been a driving force, infusing me with the resilience to forge ahead, unafraid to explore uncharted territories and embrace new experiences.
As I continue to pursue my passions and ambitions, I hope to inspire others to unlock their full potential, knowing that with fervour and dedication, no aspiration is beyond reach.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Residing in the town of Bassano del Grappa, Italy, I take immense pride in sharing this picturesque location with friends who come to visit. Embracing the cultural essence of this region, I find it great to introduce my guests to the local aperitif tradition, which holds a special place in our hearts, particularly during the vibrant summer season – a time of unity and exuberance.
A perfect starting point for our explorations would be the well-known Nardini distillery, a historical gem located on the Old Bridge, where we can savour the authentic flavours of Italy while immersing ourselves in the rich heritage of this town. Crossing to the other side of the bridge, I would then lead them to Mariga, a venue offering an impressive selection of wines that boast exceptional quality.
After, we would venture to Birreria Ottone, Osteria Terraglio or Teo Chef for dinner, indulging in the diverse culinary opportunity that showcases the region’s gastronomic prowess.
The next day of our tour could encompass visits to the town’s shops, where you can find local crafts. After basking in Bassano del Grappa, we would visit Venice, as it is an hour away by train from Bassano.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Thanks to Erika Merlo, whose unwavering support and guidance have been instrumental throughout my career journey.
