Meet Natalie Mazzolini | Artist: Experimental Expressionist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalie Mazzolini and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Natalie, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risks is very important to me in my artistic process. To be a great artist you have to push the boundaries and think outside of the box, and in order to do that you have to throw the rule book out the window and follow your gut. Always trying something new, and embracing the absurd has allowed me to find new methods and perspectives in my art journey. Its given me a sense of true freedom and confidence in my artistic expression and helped my find my unique voice. Although taking risks can seem intimidating and not immediately rewarding at first, in the long run it’s the best thing I’ve done; not only for my art career, but for myself and my happiness. I never feel limited by rules or standards, I let my creativity take control.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve taken a non traditional approach to my craft, with a unique fusion of abstract techniques, experimental mediums, and emotional narratives. The interplay of color, form, and texture invites viewers to embark on a transformative journey into the uncharted realms of the psyche. My art is immersive and thought-provoking, and seeks to redefine the boundaries of abstract experimental expressionism.
I take immense pride in the journey of my artistic expression. Throughout this process, I have crafted a distinctive and innovative art style that fills me with an overwhelming sense of achievement. This creative evolution has been a labor of love, fueled by relentless dedication, countless hours spent in the studio, and a fearless exploration of new ideas. Along the way, I’ve discovered the true essence of growth: the pursuit of greatness over perfection. Embracing failures has become an integral part of my artistic growth, as each setback fuels my passion to learn, improve, and delve deeper into unexplored artistic realms. Mental health and human emotion serve as powerful and recurring themes in my art, driving me to create thought-provoking narratives that resonate with audiences on a profound level.
My art is an open invitation to embrace the abstract and embark on a journey into the enigmatic realm of my creations and contemplate the vastness of the human experience.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you’re visiting La with me, I’m taking you all over! We’re gonna be stopping at Monte Carlo Deli in Burbank and getting some gelato, the Griffith observatory, Venice beach boardwalk. We’re stopping by Olvera St. and getting taquitos at Cieto Lindo. While in downtown, we should check out The Broad, one of my favorite art museums and the Last bookstore, which is always a fun place to explore. At night we’ll check out Cliffton’s for some drinks, if you feel like dancing there’s some fun spots, but my favorite is Davey Wayne’s in Hollywood. One of my favorite spots in La is Eastside Market Italian Deli and I’m a regular at Claro’s Italian Market, so we are stopping there for some sausage and cannoli. Then we’ll venture to Pasadena and check out the Norton Simon, I love Pasadena, so we’ll walk around old town and go shopping. While in the neighborhood I’ll take you to Remainders, which is a thrift store for craft supplies, and one of my favorite places, and it’s right near Roma Market, so we’ll stop in there too! We can walk around Seal beach and soak in that beachy breeze. While in the area we have to stop at the long beach San Pedro Fish market and devour a seafood platter while we look out onto the ocean. Then walk around the shoreline village, and maybe take a boat cruise. There are so many fun things to do out here, endless possibilities of adventure!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am dedicating my to my amazing family. I am extremely lucky and grateful to have such a supportive mom and dad who have always encouraged my art career. And to my sisters and my friends who have a been by my side for my whole journey. All the face times, asking for advice on half finished pieces, to my friends who have a whole gallery of my art on their walls, I could not have done it with out them and will forever be grateful.
