We had the good fortune of connecting with Sofia Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sofia, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Coming from a small country, I have had to work relentlessly to prove my worth in the US. Also I’ve always had the support of my family, despite being predominantly left-brain thinkers, has been a constant driving force. Embracing a growth mindset, I continuously expand my knowledge and take on various roles in design, allowing me to adapt effectively to diverse challenges.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a visual designer with a focus on Motion Graphics, my art revolves around creating captivating and dynamic visuals that bring stories to life. What sets me apart from others is my dedication to combining creativity and technical expertise to deliver visually stunning and impactful animations. I take pride in my ability to immerse audiences in engaging narratives through motion, effectively conveying emotions and messages.

Getting to where I am today professionally was a journey filled with both challenges and rewards. It was not always easy, but every obstacle served as an opportunity to grow. Overcoming these challenges required believing in myself every time I lost track of why I am here. Moving to a country far away from my family and friends and starting from zero, came with a lot of emotional hardships and loneliness at many times. Motion Design is a very new career and was still not offered in my country which is the main reason I wanted to move to the US and be good at it.

One of the most significant lessons I’ve learned along the way is the importance of collaboration. Working with teams from diverse backgrounds and expertise has enriched my creativity and enhanced the quality of my work. Additionally, I realized that staying open to feedback and criticism is vital for personal and artistic growth.

Every animation I create is a labor of love, infused with dedication and attention to detail. My goal is to make a positive impact, evoke emotions, and leave a lasting impression on audiences through my motion graphics.

In summary, my art as a Motion Graphics designer is a blend of creativity, technical skill, and a deep desire to inspire and connect with viewers. The journey to reach this point has been filled with challenges, but each one has been an opportunity to grow and refine my craft. My dedication, passion, and commitment to delivering impactful visuals are what defines me and my brand’s story.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
During the week, I would take them on a delightful tour of some of my favorite spots in Culver City, where I live. We would start with a morning coffee at either Cafe Vida or the stylish Blue Bottle Coffee. I love going to the mall, so we’d head to Westfield Century City for some shopping and catch a movie at the AMC theater. And of course, we wouldn’t miss the chance to go for a meal at my all-time favorite restaurant, Kazunori, which is an absolute must when visiting LA. Their handrolls are so fresh and delicious. To add in some workouts I would do a hike to watch the sunset at Baldwin Hills.

For the weekend, I’d take them off to Malibu. We’d go on a short hike along the Los Leones trail, the breathtaking views of the landscape are a must. Afterward, lunch by the beach, with fresh oysters at Malibu Farms or Broad Oyster Co. As the sun sets, I’d take them to Venice, making a stop at Belle’s Beach House for some drinks and good vibes. For a night out, Santa Monica would be our destination, starting with bar hopping at Jameson’s Pub and going dancing to The Victorian.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To my supportive family, thank you for always believing in me. Your unconditional faith has been my greatest motivation.
